Great to see! It’s a difficult stretch after @ Mizz and home against aTm. But this team can use the stretch as a comparison to the competition they will face in March Madness. I’d love to see 5-1 as that would almost guarantee us a two seed.

I rather not be in the same bracket as Purdue or UCONN.

I think we match up well with Purdue and Arizona. UConn not so much, and we’re very similar to Houston.

5-1 will guarantee us a 2 see seed. Win them all and it's a 1 seed and likely no. 2 overall

Surprised we moved up three spots - glad to see it though. And as for not being in same bracket as UConn, best way to avoid that is to win out.
SC - we got that. AU- we got that too. UK? At home? They suck. We got that. Bama….on the road…..? Yeah we got that too.
Bring it.

bama is a beast at home. UT loses that one. May be the only one.

Same ! I want to avoid any dominant BIGS. Kansas, UNC, UConn, Purdue top that list

Why surprised? We dominated two teams we should’ve and three teams lost ahead of us… pretty easy move

It would be super swell if Pat Adams NEVER officiated one of our games again. I think he’s been on for at least 3 of our losses.

He def handed momentum to Mississippi st.

Would be really nice if SEC officials realized we’re the legit only shot for the sec to make a run in the tourney and gave us the whistle we deserved. At least an objective whistle that let’s teams play aggressive against us and then hamstrings us and makes our defenders timid to make actual basketball plays—ie what happened to us against FAU.

Given how the last A&M game played out, wouldn’t that be a part of the difficult stretch also?

Don't play as well on the road. They've lost at Vandy and at Arky.

They did only lose by 4 at Houston. So, there's that also

If they are throwing in long and guarded 3’s at a crazy high percentage and getting a favorable whistle in the paint then they will be a very hard out.

Purdue is the last team we want to see in the tourney.. we match up terribly with them in the frontcourt. Purdue and Kansas have too many bigs for us to handle. I think we match up better against any team better than those 2. As far as seeding I think it comes down to the SEC tourney. We win out 1 seed we don't 2 seed. Assuming we finish out reg season at worst 5-1. I think fully healthy this team can win out the rest of the season and tourney fairly easily. They have been tested and grown every week. These last 6 games will show how much we have grown. Hopefully we get to play some young guys tonight so the starters are rested well for A&M revenge match this weekend.

Respectfully disagree. We are deeper and much more athletic than Purdue. I believe we would handle them like we did Duke last year.

We can afford two losses in the last four games to top 20 teams and still lock up a #2 seed. Our body of work is too good.

I mean, we have tangible evidence of Purdue beating us, and they did it with Edey in foul trouble and only playing 26 minutes (and still going for 23 and 10).

They were greatly aided by 48 FT attempts, but who's to say they won't replicate that same kind of effort at the line?

They have a dominant big man and they shoot the ball well from outside (5 guys who play double-digit minutes and have attempted at least 25 3-pters are shooting over 40% from 3).

That is a recipe for disaster for us unless we just catch them on a frigid shooting night.

The other reason I think we match up well with them is because we’ve played them already and would be better prepared. Bring ‘em on.

That goes both ways, but I would hope we have a more confident version of ZZ in a potential matchup. He didn't play well against them in November and it's fair to question how much he trusted his knee that early, but now, he seems to be playing at an elite level.

He's averaging 14.1 pts, 6.7 assts, 3.3 rebs, 2.4 stls, and only 2.5 TOs in 34 mpg during SEC play Shooting 50%/37.1%/67.4%.

Pre-conference, he was at 8.2 pts, 4.5 assts, 1.8 rebs, 1.5 stls, 2 TOs in 26 mpg. Shooting 34.3%/32.2%/76.9%.

We match up well with Conneticut and Houston.
If you don’t get a good whistle when you play Houston, it will be a difficult challenge t beat them. They foul so much, but Sampson neutralizes officials with his constant working berating on the sideline. They remind me of Auburn with the way they muddy up a game defensively. They are physical and they try to break your spirit and will. They are the classic grind out type of team with older players. I think it would be safe to say that DK would be harassed and fouled at will with only a third of the fouls called. UCONN to me would be a better matchup in my opinion as I think our guards would be effective against them, and their big man would not manhandle Aidoo in the post. I will admit I would be worried that Hurley could carve us up with his offensive sets they run and execute. Either team would be a big time challenge for the Vols but if we see them it would probably be an elite 8 or final 4 setting.

It would definitely be in the Elite Eight at the earliest because all three will be on the 1/2 line.

UT is due a win over Purdue after the Lamonte Turner BS, this year, and the Music City Bowl. Playing them in the Elite 8 to advance to our 1st Final Four would be glorious.
