5 losses vs un ranked as top 10

This team either wins or loses on its own, the opponent usually has little to say about it. They play defense every night and occasionally they can shoot at a reasonable percentage. When they shoot they win if not they lose. Tonight they went to O in the post the first 6 times on offense and came back with 1 basket. It sets the tone for the game and puts them behind on the road, Its not the first time they have done this. I guess Barnes hopes for an inside game to setup the outside game. I think the ship sailed on that idea.

Top 10 vs unbanked. Go look up how rare it is to happen twice in a season much less 5 times
BS. You’re telling me it’s rare for BASKETBALL top-10 teams to lose to unranked teams? It happens about every week. Prove it since you’re the one claiming it’s rare.

NM. No need to go look it up. It’s literally happened 4 times outside of UT just in the last week. What a terrible point you made but it’s funny you think it’s a good one. Purdue was 2 of those by the way. Twice…in one week…Purdue. What else you got skippy?

Edit: My apologies, I think you’re saying 5 is rare and I thought you were saying any top 10 losses to unranked teams is rare. You did specifically say it happening twice is rare and there are 4 teams besides UT that have at least 2 such losses just this year. Zona has 4 losses to unranked teams as a top 10 team. Anyway, I think I misunderstood you, at least in part.

It’s not a normal year. There is a lot of parity between #5 and #25 or #30. In a typical year TN drops out of the top 10 after a loss or 2 versus the unranked. It’s just a statistical anomaly. Plus those that are unranked are just barely unranked.
It’s not rare at all. Maybe he’s looking at football stats.

It’s not unusual to lose those games. But the number of times that it has happened is. But like I said, it’s very much an anomaly. Normally teams fall out of the top 10 after a couple of losses to unranked teams. But KY and MO aren’t far from being ranked.

He said it’s rare for a team to do it twice in a season and Purdue literally did it twice in the past week. 5 is a fairly high number but I bet it happens to someone about every year, at least the last several years where parity reigns.

Sorry. I thought that 5x was the argument. Yes. Especially road games versus bubble teams are going to always be difficult to win.

Funny enough, Arizona has 4 this year and they’re top 10 now so they could have 5 soon. Purdue has 3, and a couple other teams have 2.

I hope that this year is the new normal. I’ve had enough of Duke, UNC, KY, and KU cherry picking the best recruits and waltzing into the FFs.

I didn't get to watch yesterday and was looking at the box score. 4-14 as a team from the FT line? That's abysmal. That's like what a beginner 5th grade team would hit using Granny-style. Looked like fouls were not called down the middle, but you expect that playing at KY. Have to overcome it. Probably time to face the fact that although this team has the horses to get deep in the Dance or win it all, the teamwork and consistency just is not there, and is not going to be this year.

As challenged as we are with FTs, I'd give it a try. Can they be any worse? Worked well for Rick Barry back in the day. He was damned good with it actually.

The win against Alabama was nice but still
Dropping 3 of the last 4 is worrisome for sure. We definitely have major deficiencies that must be addressed soon. I’d rather make some changes and find the right lineup to make a run in the sec tourney and ncaa. The small lineup was nice some moving around here and there needs to happen or we could get bounced around the first game.
