1. Alabama has better talent then us right now. we are improving though.

2. Dobbs looked better then Worley, but I am going to trush CBJ on his QB choice.

3. Well, this is bringing a lot of Tennessee fans back to reality. We are good, but not beat Alabama good.

4. I still feel better about our future even though it was a bad blow out.

5. I really would have liked Missouri to win, but now I have new found confidence we could beat them. Also, after looking at their schedule I see how they were undefeated.

I think that Pinkel has his hands full after the home loss.

True. But they will be wanting to destroy after that devastating loss..

That had a fun fact during the Mizz game. That Pinkel almost always loses the next game coming off big home game wins.. That could of have been UT !

Good thing that the Tennessee defense is back to facing a spread offense this week. Alabama's I-formation caused UT's d-line to play narrower in the gaps and allowed Bama's tackles to pinch the Vols defensive ends inside allowing Yeldon and Drake the opportunity to bounce their runs outside for huge gains. I think Tennessee's defense will rebound this week in Columbia.

They're not going to destroy anyone with that backup redshirt Freshman.

If the starting QB Franklin was healthy, I'd probably have a totally different sentiment (heck, they might not have lost having a guy back who was completing 70-60% of his passes; as opposed to - in a passing offense - the current backup who was 10 for 25 (40%) with only 4 completions in the second half....i'm not here to debate woulds or should ofs, but those are bad numbers regardless)

But with their current situation on that side of the ball, their offense is going to have difficulty this weekend as well.

For all that, we held them slightly below their season rush average of 211...they got 204.

I didn't think the run D was the issue at bammer, it was the pass D. We got torched. Of course, there were two complete busts in the first half, one on the screen and another on the third TD where there was some apparent miscommunication. This was by far the worst pass D we have exhibited this season save Oregon.

It may have been a case of being a bit overwhelmed on the road against no. 1, IDK. And maybe that was a contributing factor at Oregon also.

But here's the good news...Maty Mauk has not looked that good throwing the ball and no doubt our players have learned from the bammer experience on the road.

Missouri ain't bammer at least....:)

Also gotta wonder where their heads are after a loss like that. Will tell how good of a Coach he is and how they respond. Some teams like the way UT did this yr and rise up after a tough loss or like a Dooley team they collapse.

I've been hearing more about their defense being the reason they are ranked so high.
A few thoughts on that:
They haven't played the #1 and formerly #2 teams in the country.
Yet they only best TN by 25 yds in total Defense.
Our YdsPss Allowed is much better. #70/#112
They are better against the run but haven't faced #1 or #2.
Red ZoneD: We're better at #22/#84
Our Punting is better: #27/#97
We have fewer penalties: #17/#46
Come out Saturday with a potent read option and we may just walk over them.
O-line will dominate the next 4 opponents. No more intimidation.

1. The Vols beat South Carolina...South Carolina beat Missouri....(the enemy of my enemy is my friend)
2. The Vols lost to Alabama 45-10....Arkansas lost to Alabama 52-0....(significant difference)
3. Even if the Vols can only win against Kentucky and Vanderbilt theyre bowl eligible....(bowl invite is gaurenteed due to fan following)
4.Dobbs is an extremely good athlete, and he can be authentic....(duel threat QB who appears fearless despite youth)
5. Volnation is awesome.

Trying to be optomistic but on the road with a true freshman QB making his first start is not a good look for yhe Vols. Dobbs is more gifted than Worley but get ready to watch the frosh QB make most of the mistakes we suffered through with Worley. Sams and other d line like to get up the field after the QB so here's hoping young Dobbs can make some plays with his feet ala Conner Shaw and keep. Us in it until the end
