I just noticed that there is a possibility that Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State and Baylor could all five go unbeaten. The top 4 I had looked at quite a bit but Baylor I had overlooked because of them being a Big 12 school.

There last stretch of games is pretty nasty and I would feel bad for them if they won all of them convincingly and then didn't get to play for the championship.

Vs Oklahoma
Vs Texas Tech
@ Oklahoma State
@ TCU
vs Texas

Then they would get to play the Big 12 Championship game after that.

That's a pretty good stretch of teams to play only to get jacked out a title game shot. The sad part is that if this happened in the 4 game playoff, then the top 4 would get in with them standing on the outside.

Pretty good chance that Fresno St and Northern Illinois also go unbeaten, although neither of them will crack the top 10.

Fresno would have to beat Boise a second time in the league title game, and NIU could fall at Toledo.

I don't think they will win all 5 of those games. But if they do, then you're right, it would really suck for them to have that happen 1 year before the playoff is implemented.

Baylor is convincing. OTOH, Mizzou was over rated due to the fact they won against some very beat up teams. Computer doesn't account for that. Still, to me, it seems Bama, Fl State and Oregon are closer to NFL then average college teams.

It tends to work out in the end for the most part.

It always seems to work out.

This. Kansas State and UCLA were supposed to play for the first BCS national championship in 1998 until they both lost on the last weekend, catapulting UT to #1 in the BCS. It always seems to work itself out. 1994 with Auburn is the only year where someone clearly got shafted by the system.

2004 Auburn I think is what you mean. But yes, I agree. It will work itself out.

What will be unfortunate is if Alabama, Florida State, and Oregon all win out. All three of these teams would truly deserve a shot to play for a national title, but one (probably Oregon) would be left out.

That's not accurate. Tennessee was #1 in the BCS starting 11/9 that year and we never moved lower. We were # 2 in the 11/2 rankings and moved to # 1 after Ohio State lost. While things did work themselves out, we were definately playing in the championship game regardless of who lost the last weekend.

This is VN.....your historical accuracy is not welcome.

Baylor won't finish undefeated, so that puts it at four. Ohio State has been easily the least impressive of the group but their schedule is pathetic, so they'll get to the Michigan game at 11-0. Oregon could very well lose at Stanford next Thursday. Alabama could lose at home to LSU or at Auburn but the likelihood of either happening isn't too high. Florida State should have the best chance out of this group to go undefeated.

Ohio state don't deserve anything. I can't stand watching a team go undefeated because they have such a weak schedule...

There is no Big 12 Championship game. I don't think Baylor runs the table. I hope 4 teams end up unbeaten & ala & OSU get hosed!

Would love to see Baylor kick the crap out of an overrated OSU team in a nationally televised bowl game.

It was, however, widely speculated that Kansas State and UCLA would wind up in the National Championship game, based on a projected decline in strength of schedule as we progressed through the Kentucky-Vanderbilt portion of our slate. Fortunately, they both lost and we never relinquished our hold on the no. 1-spot in BCS rankings.

I would also say the Miami 2000 got screwed as well. They got jumped by FSU. Both had 1 loss but Miami had already beaten FSU head to head during the season.

I think you mean 2004, not 1994.

2000 Miami, 2003 USC, 2004 Auburn, and 2011 Oklahoma St all had legitimate claims just off the top of my head.

I was about to say 2008 Texas may be one of the best cases of the BCS being the worst. Head-to-head win over Oklahoma, lost on a touchdown with one second to play on the road at a top ten team, played just as well as Oklahoma did throughout the course of the season. However, Oklahoma ran the score up every opportunity possible, which apparently gets you into title games.
