Wow, crazy story. Any new details today about their conditions? Are they stable now? Has any passed?

This is all I can find. Hopefully no news is good news and they all make a full recovery. Looks like the truck driver did an excellent job of driving to avoid even greater damage, but I'm no truck driver. Maybe someone on the forum can look at the pictures and tell if I am right or wrong.

"Travis Seefeldt, 22, a senior nose guard for Utah State, was airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Sarah Vasquez, 22, a former Aggie softball player, was also airlifted to McKay-Dee. Both were in critical condition. Seefeldt was driving the Tahoe, and Vasquez was a passenger in the front seat.

Edmund Faimalo, 21, Adewald Adeoye, 19, and John Taylor, 21, all current football players for Utah State, were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening injuries."

I think one of them has a broken rib and the others have non-life threatening injuries. They were absolutely lucky. Semi, coming down the hill, T-Boned them and none of them were wearing seat belts. That stretch of highway has a 55 mph speed limit. I'd guess the semi driver was doing every bit of it.

35,45, or 55. It wouldn't have made a difference. That truck had plenty of pusher axles under it. Best I could tell from the pic it looks like it was rated to 120,000 pounds gross weight. That's a lot of weight to stop.

What's a pusher axle?

It looked like the driver managed to hit them at less than a 90 degree angle, veered off the road, yet kept the truck from ramming into a house. That's a lot of weight to be stopping and yet keep under any control. Don't think he was speeding, no citations (last I read), and witnesses said the car did not really stop before entering the intersection. Just a bunch of young kids/adults having a fun day and probably not paying a lot of attention to the road. Pray they will all be OK.

Pushers or tag axles are additional axles added to a typical 18 wheeler or even to a straight truck like a dump truck. They allow for more weight to be hauled than the typical big truck.

He had 2 pusher axles added to the trailer and one pusher on the truck. He could heavy haul and be legal.

I do hope all involved recover quickly
Prayers to the players and their family's.

Wow! I thought from the picture it looked like there was a lot of weight. Makes me think of my physics classses; I remember those calculations:-(

Thanks for the explanation.
