50 Best Players in the country...

My first thought is higher than expected, BUT I'm very please to see someone not putting every single highly rated freshman above players that have already proved themselves.

Maymon not being on the list is a snub IMO. I also believe Trae will have a great year to push to be on that list.

I don't know. I thought I saw somewhere Poythress was projecting as a lottery pick. How can he be the #29 player in this list? I know he says he's not taking the NBA into account, but talent is talent and apparently the experts think Poythress' talent is elite. Also, if I was ranking Florida's players I don't think I would end up with Murphy then Young then Boynton. I don't see that many Gator games, so I'm probably wrong, but when UT played them Murphy didn't seem that big a factor.

I guess that's why he has McDermott so high, college game not NBA. So he'd have someone like MKG not that high, because he statistically wasn't dominant, but a guy like McDermott higher because he lit teams up yet isn't a high NBA draft guy.

Agreed on Florida though, don't see how Murphy is first, even if it is college game not NBA.

Well if this thing is college not pro, I think Maymon probably goes in this list ahead of Stokes. If not ahead then very near. Based on the guys own criteria, they are going to have about the same stats and value to the team. As far as his "eye test criteria", Maymon should pass that pretty well to.

And if it's just college that he's talking about Rotnie Clarke should be higher. That cat can flat out shoot.

These lists are great for generating off-season discussion, but they're fairly useless otherwise. I don't agree with the majority of this list, other than the Top 5.

What are your thoughts on the order of the 3 Gator players on the list?

probably about right....but he has the potential to be top 5. I would just like to see more leadership. He is definitely a man amongst boys.

That's a little higher than I thought he might be, Maymon is almost as good IMHO

Thats where the list seems to not make sense. He says it's based on college game and my NBA, that's why a guy like McDermott is so high. Well if you're going solely by the college game, maymon should be very similar to stokes. Unless of course this guy is expecting stokes to put up huge numbers and for maymon to digress.

I would rank Boynton the highest of all the three by far, then Young, then Murphy. Murphy is a great shooter with great size, but he's average defensively and was a non-factor on the boards for much of last season.

Boynton is ridiculously undervalued in this list. He's every bit the shooter that Clarke is, except Boynton can play defense, can distribute the ball, and can create his own shot. He made 110 threes last year while shooting over 40%. It's tough to imagine someone who put up the stats he did last year can fly so far under the radar, especially at a program like Florida.

And I think Stokes has the ability to live up to his ranking, but at this point I'd probably rank him just a few spots above Maymon.

Thanks for the feedback on UF. I was thinking somewhat along those same lines. Boynton shared the backcourt with a Lottery pick at SF and a somewhat reluctant passer at PG. I expect this year he will get more opportunities to score than last year.

I agree about boynton overall, however he is not "every bit" the shooter Clarke is. Clarkes last season he made 40 more threes than boynton, and shot 4% better, give the man his credit.

The same site has us at 16 in the early preseason rankings

16 Tennessee (19-15, NIT) – Four starters are back from a team that started to look pretty good in February. Jarnell Stokes, who had a nice 2nd half of the season, could be a 1st team All-SEC candidate.
