59.6% Field Goal shooting covers up a lot doesn't it?

The LV's had 19 turnovers. They gave up 19 offensive rebounds and were outscored on 2nd chance points. The point guards had a collective 9 turnovers and scored a total of 4 points.

This game - 25 points on 14 shots, 7 assists, 64% fg% - was a statistical aberration for DeShields. Her history at UNC and at UT is one of a volume shooter that gets around or less than 18 ppg on around 40% shooting with slightly more than 2 assists per game.

Will DeShields performance happen again? Undoubtedly. Will it become the norm? Only time will tell.

59.6% Field Goal shooting covers up a lot. Which is why fans such as myself have been aching to see such a shooting performance.

Fixed her stat line for you.

Sometimes it's easy to see why Holly is indecisive, when half of the fans want DD on the court scoring pts, and the other half want to bench anybody who doesn't value possessions.

If she shoots 64% we might be able to handle a few turnovers.

:hi:DeShields had 6 turnovers alone out of 19 for the whole team. Cooper did absolutely nothing except occupy floor space and she usually has at least 6 turnovers per game. Pat Summit would absolutely not tolerate those kind of turnovers.:eek:lol:

Didn't see the game but hats off to the Vols on an astounding shooting performance. The cynic in me says that auburn must be pretty bad as we generally couldn't shoot 45/50 percent if the opponent were only playing four instead of five, much less 60 percent. It looked from the highlights like the team was making a serious effort to move the ball more quickly and more crisply. If so, that would be progress--but I recall using the word progress a few times after the Missouri game only to watch this team play one of the worst games by a Vol team in years against florida (and that's saying something as we've had a lot of bad performances). But, hey, good win. Sounds like DeShields had a bounce back game except for turnovers. Let's hope for more consistency--and ball movement!--going forward. The latter will help the former.

Armchair Auburn beat Kentucky, a top 10 team at the time. The league is going to be very competitive especially the top 4 or 5 teams on the East.

The Lvs looked like a different team. They spread the floor which created space. It was a subtle thing but their spacing opened up passing lanes. DeShields was fantastic, despite forcing a few bad passes. And the LVs made open shots, perhaps because the spacing and sets gave them a little more time.

Auburn is not a good defensive team; they rely on turnovers and transition points. The Lvs were great in handling the Auburn press and shooting 60% took away a lot of transition opportunities.

They don't want the Lady Vols to do good, so they can fire Holly.
