Raines is a train wreck. He's a big piece of our current debacle.

politics is part of the hard work, no two ways about it.

And luck, and who you know. I've got a master's degree and 10 years work experience, and the simple fact of the matter is I could work for another 20 years and would never get to that level without knowing the right people and falling into the right circumstances.

No whining here, I'm just saying qualifications and politics are not the only part of it.

You're not one of those "winners of life's lottery" Gephardt folks are you?

No, hard work is still most important. Some people are dealt a better hand than others though and not all roads to success are equally easy, but they are equally possible.
