Thanks Obama !

In all seriousness, though, it still feels like the economy is struggling. My theory is that it's because wage growth has a really long way to go to catch up.

The biggest problem we have is a lot of our population is unqualified to do most jobs especially tech. Trump proposed have a merit based immigration plan. Why we would want to import more unskilled labor only adds to the overall problem of wage growth and people being not employable

It's amazing to me how conservatives that I respect poo-poo'd unemployment number improvements throughout Obama's presidency and sudden the same data trends mean Trump is the GOAT.

Unemployment fell in conjunction with a declining participation rate. Now unemployment is falling despite a constant participation rate.

If everything else has gone up then yes we do.

So, the corporate tax rate cuts spurred growth. What do you think wage increases will do? The problem with most Americans isn't that they don't make enough. It's that they live above their means and don't save. Giving them more money won't fix that. It will only make what they buy cost even more. It's an inflationary move.

That said, will there naturally be wage growth? Sure, due to competition between employers for employees. That's inherent to the system. Probably will see more of an up tick with the baby boomers leaving the job market, because there will be a surplus of jobs. Do we need to artificially attempt to increase wages, for example by increasing the minimum wage? No.

Your right. I agree with everything you stated. I’m fortunately in the skilled trade market and can do a little bit of it all. My primary skill is electricity and Hvac. I can do a little bit of it all though. Literally almost the whole skilled trade market is super close to retiring and if you can find someone they either don’t know what they are doing or are felons. Right now it cost an arm and leg to get labored work done and it’s going to go up big time within the next decade.

We definitely need more folks like yourself with strong trade skills. It has been undervalued by our educational system for too long now. Skilled labor makes this country run, plain and simple.

Because the elite leftists need to import cheap slave labor from places like Mexico, Central America, and Africa to do menial work, which depresses wages for everyone, and disproportionately hurts native-born Americans. Want a living wage? Deport the illegals who are mowing the lawns of people like Nancy Peolsi and Maxine Waters. I'll gladly pay a few dollars extra for my groceries and electronics knowing that I'm supporting an American who is making a wage where they can support a family.

I'm not ok with paying dirt cheap prices for products that are the result of work of illegal aliens who are living 12 people to an apartment, and sending the majority of their money back to Mexico. The fact that an oil rich country like Mexico has their #1 source of foreign income as remittances, shows that they are literally siphoning tens of billions of dollars that should stay here in America, supporting American businesses and workers.

Don’t fret, there’s more rain in the forecast silly

This implies you think I want to see the economy fail, which is ridiculous. I want to see it continue to improve, but it has been very uneven, you have to admit.

The people that really seem to be getting the vast, vast, vast majority of the benefit are at the top whereas the middle and working class continue to struggle.

Its great to see that so many people are getting jobs, but its not so great when you realize that their incomes leave no room for retirement savings, college, etc.
