Not sure if "vigilante" is best word. From the video footage, it looked like he had every right to open fire; he didn't necessarily take the law in his own hands, per se.

I think "vigilante" just means law enforcement without legal authority. He stopped a robbery, without being formally authorized. That's what I mean. Not saying he broke or bent the law.

I get what you're saying, but I interpret it as an authorized act of a citizen. If the laws in Florida are similar to Tennessee's, the robbers were putting many people's lives in immediate danger, therefore he has the right to use deadly force. I see it more as a survival technique than citizen's arrest. I know that sounds kinda weird, I hope it makes sense haha.

Since they were fleeing, they'll probably give the old man 2 counts of attempted manslaughter.

Oh well...
