not any real HUGE news, but definitely some news...

Nick King- nothing really new here, appears the vols are probably #2 on a 4 team list right now, trailing Memphis. King will take an official visit to Knoxville sometime this fall, and most likely will be deciding in November.

Robert Hubbs- a bit of a development here, just when it seemed like he was about to trim his list, and give a bit of an update the big boys came calling. UK, Kansas & UCLA all expressed interest recently which has caused Hubbs to listen, and reopen his recruitment. There is a chance he waits now until spring to commit, if so, probably not great news. Should get a better idea on where he stands withing the next 3 weeks.

Austin Nichols- cut his list to 6, not really any surprise with any of the schools however, one notable thing could be he cut the schools he did because of the depth and talent at his position. I understand Duke is Duke, but he appears to be serious about this want to play early, and if thats the case then Duke isnt the school for him. Auburn is thought by some to have really entered the picture here and be a serious contender, i dont see it for multiple reason, but stay tuned for more on that as Barbee does come from the Cal tree.

Jonathon Williams lll- continues to really be a very quiet recruitment. tennessee is thought to be in his top 3, and most likely the leader or #2, however JW3 hasnt confirmed anything. the only real news from the mouth JW3 is that he will take all 5 of his official visits, so expect a trip to knoxville in the fall.

Jajuan Johnson- supposed to be releasing a top 5/6 any day now, will be interesting to see if he includes memphis, and/or tennessee.

Dominic Woodson- this is a guy who we really havent heard anything about for a long time. however, he released a top 10 just the other day and tennessee is on it. now what that means is anyones guess, did he just include tennesssee along with a couple other schools or are they really actively pushing for him. we should hear more soon hopefully.

Jarquez Smith- havent heard too much lately with this guy, but with him growing a bit, seems like a guy that with our post need could definitely become a high priority for CCM. has said that he will be visiting tennessee in the fall at some point.

Terrence Samuel- maybe the biggest news since the last update is with samuel. he is a highly rated PG, and would be a VERY nice pickup for tennessee. he has cut his list to 6, obvioulsy tennessee is on it, and he has said he will visit all the schools on his list, so good news there.

Quinton Stephens- a top 150 wing, who CCM has been in on for awhile, recently cutting his list to 4 and tennessee is right in the thick of things here. sounds like he will probably be taking a visit at some point to tennessee, but right now nothing confirmed.

I assume nothing on Landry other than he is still a verbal and it appears the staff is still looking at other PG's.

bleedingTNorange, I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed, but I don't following basketball recruiting as closely...Which of these players do u think we have the best chance of getting?? Thanks :hi:

from all accounts thats it.

being the PG at huntington he is playing with dominic woodson, who has us in his top 10, maybe if CCM gets the feeling he can pull Woodson he ends up keeping Landry.

i expect us to take a PG, at this point it appears that it will be either Landry or Samuel, i however do not think in any way shape or form that we will take 2 PG's, so if Samuel seems to be a Vol i expect us to part with Landry.

Let me say, ive said for awhile how i feel about Landry. I feel he can be a decent backup, but my question is, is that something we are looking for in this class? we're after so much talent, do you waste a scholarship on someone you feel can only be a decent backup? i guess it probably will depend on who the staff can get to committ, and then they'll make a decision on Landry.

Guess this is appropriate for this thread...

This needs to be a good class if we want to stay competitive year in and out. Florida and UK will both have top 5 classes in 2013, and Bama could have a top 10 class, lots of talent coming to the SEC.

thanks for the update! i didn't like hearing that hubbs was opening it up again though. Hopefully the staff will continue to work on these recruits.

Losing confidence in Hubbs by the minute. Just not looking like he's headed this way...

Out of the 3 that just entered the picture, Kentucky Kansas and UCLA, only UK seriously concerns me.

With that said, UK would have to miss on multiple guys before they'd even consider offering Hubbs. They have their main targets and priorities and i can guarantee Hubbs isn't one, he's a backup to a backup to a backup plan for UK. So like I said, the only way UK offers him is if they miss on a lot of guys, and Cal doesn't usually miss on many guys, so I see it doubtful that they push hard for Hubbs.

Sure, I just see him as a very good fit with the Vols. Would hate to lose him to anyone, especially to the NBA minor leagues in Lexington.

Might add that Jajuan Johnson was not happy with Memphis accepting the verbal from Markel Crawford. Don't know if that helps UT any.

Kind of what I meant by, it'll be interesting to see if he includes Memphis. Once thought to be a lock there, he has made it sound they're not even in his top 3/4 right now.

Hopefully, Cal is not just there to steer him away from Knoxville.
