10 nominees for Best Picture and Drive doesn't make the cut? I'll never understand Hollywood.

I thought Drive was horrendous. Thin plot, weak performances, and too light on action scenes.

Yeah, maybe you didn't like it, but it was a crowd-pleasing indie film that won Cannes. What more can Hollywood ask for? The answer is War Horse.

The Artist.

I actually only saw 2 of the movies nominated for best picture. Liked them both, but didn't think either were worthy of a nomination (Moneyball and Midnight in Paris).

Didn't know Erik Estrada was an Academy voter.

Ponch is bad, bad man.

Plus, Vin Diesel is as well.

The Artist was preordained to win Best Picture. It was good, I thought there were some better movies out there, but the combo of it being silent and an unabashed love letter to Hollywood ensured its victory.

Unfortunately this is true. Probably one of the worst years for nominated movies. I can't see any of the ones that were nominated being remembered after a year or two.

The Artist will, for no other reason than it being shoved down everyones throats. I thought Hugo was excellent, and nearly all of Scorsese's movies have long term staying power.

Speaking on Hugo, didn't realize my cousin is the agent for kid who played Hugo. Over the holidays I got in trouble w my aunt for bashing the movie.
