'No words': 9/11 Death Toll continues to rise 22 years later

"The FDNY continues to feel the impact of that day," the fire commissioner said.

As the nation prepares to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the New York City Fire Department has added 43 new names to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall commemorating firefighters, paramedics and civilian support staff members who have died from illnesses related to the rescue and recovery efforts in the aftermath of one of the darkest days in U.S. history.

The additions to the memorial wall bring the total number of FDNY members who have succumbed to post-9/11 illnesses to 331, which is nearly equal to the number of firefighters killed in the Twin Towers on the day of the attacks.

New York Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh told relatives of those being added to the wall that their loved ones died as "heroes."

Biden Rejects Proposed Conditions For Plea Deal For 9/11 defendants

The defendants put forward a set of demands as a basis for plea negotiations.

U.S. President Joe Biden has rejected proposed conditions for a plea deal for five Guantanamo Bay detainees accused of aiding in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council.

The defendants had put forward a set of demands as a basis for plea negotiations, known as the "joint policy principles." According to The New York Times, those demands include avoiding solitary confinement and receiving health treatment for injuries the detainees claim were a result of CIA interrogation methods.

Biden agreed with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin's recommendation not to accept those demands.

The five detainees, including the alleged mastermind behind the attacks, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, were transferred to the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2006. Their case has been held up by legal proceedings for years, with no trial date set.

Every president has observed 9/11 at one of the terror targets or the White House. So why the hell will Biden insultingly be in Alaska... en route from Vietnam? No wonder, rages MAUREEN CALLAHAN, Americans don't think he gives a damn

Joe Biden is about to hit an all-time low: For no good or explained reason, he has decided to skip Monday's 9/11 ceremonies.

It's beyond disgraceful. It's a dereliction of duty and a heartless affront to the nearly 3,000 American civilians who died that day, the heroes who ran up the stairs in the World Trade Center to their certain deaths, the passengers who stormed the cockpit on United Flight 93, the surviving family members and friends, and those who still suffer and die from the effects of that day.

September 11, 2001 is still very much with us.

Nearly 10,000 first responders on or near the World Trade Center site have cancer. Over 5,000 have died from WTC-related illnesses. More people have died, and will continue to die, from the effects of the attacks than those who perished in them. It remains a national crisis, not that the Biden administration treats it as such.

Why will the president be in Alaska, you might ask?

The New York City medical examiner's office has been working to identify remains recovered from the site for two decades.

The remains of two victims who were killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center have been identified days ahead of the 22nd anniversary, according to New York City officials.

A man and a woman, whose names are being withheld at their families’ request, are the latest to have been positively identified by the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office in a decades-long effort to return victims to their families, Mayor Eric Adams’ office announced Friday.

The two are the 1,648 and 1,649th victims identified by the ME through a meticulous process using DNA sequencing on human remains recovered from the rubble of the Lower Manhattan attack that claimed the lives of 2,753 people.

Architect of 9/11 attacks Khalid Shaikh Mohammed strikes Plea Deal to avoid death penalty after Terror Mastermind spent decades at Guantanamo Bay

The architect of the September 11 attacks, and two others involved in the terror plot, have agreed to plea deals after decades in US detention.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Bin Attash and Mustafa al-Hawasawi have all agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy charges in exchange for a life sentence.

The New York Times reported on Wednesday evening that the pleas, which will see the men dodge a death penalty trial, have been approved by Pentagon officials.

All three men have been in US custody at Guantanamo Bay since the early 2000s. Mohammed, an al Qaeda militant, has been accused of being the principal architect of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Chief prosecutor Rear Admiral Aaron Rugh sent a letter to family members of September 11 victims that explained the plea agreement.

The Defense Department released a statement on Wednesday saying prosecutors had reached plea agreements with the men, without disclosing the terms.

The Pentagon and the FBI advised families of the victims last August that the death penalty may have to be taken off the table in the prosecution of the men.

it is. first the fact that he is even still alive. and second that he is given any sort of plea deal.
There are certain things that sets our country apart from others that make us a very special place, in a good way. Giving these POS an opportunity to plea down from the murder of over 3000 people should not be one of them. **** them. Should’ve been hanged or killed by firing squad a long time ago.

‘National Disgrace’: Lawmakers Condemn Biden Administration’s Plea Deal For 9/11 Mastermind

Several lawmakers slammed the Biden administration following news of a plea deal for the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks Wednesday, New York Post reported.

Lawmakers criticized a plea deal that will spare Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the 9/11 attacks and two alleged accomplices from the death penalty. The deal, which allows the three men to avoid capital punishment, has been labeled a “national disgrace” and a “total miscarriage of justice” by lawmakers across the political spectrum.

“Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris Administration still seeks to release other Guantanamo terrorists back into the world. The Administration’s cowardice in the face of terror is a national disgrace.”
