Overranked thanks to schedule, but I will take it. Have to get much, much better. Turnover margin is saving us.

haven't seen State play yet this year...putting your homerism aside, what is your overall feelings about your team? Strength/weakness? How do you think they match up against UT?

It is very hard to put my finger on this team. It has been a mixed bag thusfar. We have not established a true identity yet...which is scary, seeing how I don't see any way that we really know "who we are" when you come to Starkville in 3 weeks.

Looked great against Auburn. Totally dominant on both sides of the ball. Stifled them defensively until the game was for all intents and purposes over. Actually pretty well killed the pass rush and took Lemonier and Ford out of the game on the offensive side. Russell looked like the first State qb I've ever seen with true pro potential. He made some tremendous touch passes in that game.

Have looked laxidasical and sloppy in all 3 "easy" OOC games. We ALMOST messed around and got beat at Troy. Gave up a ton of yards. We've played consistently 60-70 players in these 3 games(actually played every single non-redshirting scholarship player against Jackson State). It seems the mass substitutions and vanilla schemes have really prevented us from ever finding a rhythm. We had 7 dropped passes and 24 missed tackles at Troy. Speaks to the lack of concentration. Then, Tyler Russell was "off" for the first time against South Alabama last night. He made bad decisions and lacked the pinpoint accuracy we have come to expect from him. Ultimately, I don't know "who we are" because the Auburn game is seemingly the only one we played with 100% effort in scheme, personnel, and approach to win.

Some stats that show the ball control offense and vanilla defense we have played so far:
#7 nationally turnovers: 2(1 fumbles lost, 1 int)
#1 nationally turnover gain: 15(6 fumbles, 9 int)
#1 nationally turnover margin: +13
#94 sacks/game
#8 sacks allowed/game(tied with UT on this)
#95 tackles for loss/game
#46 tackles for loss allowed/game
#17 scoring D
#53 rush D
#54 pass D

Vanilla = giving up a ton of pass/run yards, but locking down the red zone. Also not bringing heat on the passer AT ALL(crazy low sacks/TFL) in giving up all these yards. We've done a surprisingly good job of protecting Russell(few sacks) even though he's been rushed mercilessly(lot of tfl). And the DB's are excellent, which everyone already knew.

Tennessee is a major toss-up. Will be the first effective passing qb we have seen this year, and thus the first qb we will really go after and try to sack. IF we can get pressure, it will be interesting. If we can't, he will destroy us exactly how Tyler Wilson did last year...

Ok... Say you think Baylor is overrated. Suggest why & who should hold the spot instead; make a cogent argument to back up your unsubstantiated opinion. That is quality sports dialogue. I am all over it.

Instead, tell me a team "fell up" the rankings with no backup & no explanation. I do not care to make any more effort than the opinion-offering jack ass did.

I am a Vol. I am married to a Baylor Bear. I support both teams passionately. I go to almost a dozen games per year between them. I suggest people back up their BS on a sports MB. TOO MUCH TO ASK?

Like I said, figured you didn't see it the same gator. Good luck with your continued "fall up" the rankings.
I see you're not even trying to explain to me how the two situations are in any way comparable.

Either way, hopefully we'll beat LSU and continue to "fall up" the rankings.

I don't need to offer detailed analysis of my opinions. Not many people do. If they did, boards would basically be unreadable. People (including me) don't have long enough attention spans for every post to be a several-paragraph essay. Either way, it's not like I was just throwing out an opinion that had no logical substance and running away.

I thought that the fact that Baylor barely beat a Sun Belt team would be enough of a reason to say that they're "falling up." Sure, Louisiana-Monroe is not your average Sun Belt team. But are they a team any Top 25 team should be struggling against? No.

There are plenty of teams who have looked more impressive than Baylor. Ohio, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, and Texas A&M are several teams that stand out. You can make a case that Tennessee has done more this season than Baylor. Baylor haven't done anything overly impressive. They did NOT look the part of a ranked team this week. That's basically the definition of "falling up."

Florida has beaten two solid conference teams on the road. I'm not ready to say that we're a contender just yet, but we haven't been "falling up" whatsoever.

And I would think that the fact Florida barely beat Boling Green, a MAC team, would be logical currency in your world. Tomato tomato.

Good luck gator goring forward.

So you think they shouldn't move up because of a game from three weeks ago?
