Tennessee, meanwhile, enters Saturday ranked No. 3 in the country in both major polls. Oddly enough, the Vols are looking for the first win in school history on the third day of next month.

In three previous Sept. 3 playing dates, the Vols lost 13-3 to Pittsburgh to open the 1983 season, fell 28-17 at Georgia to begin 1988 and dropped a 25-23 decision at UCLA at the start of the 1994 campaign.

Worried?

Not at all. Pitt was a better team that year, 88 was the season from hell, and we lost our #1 QB against UCLA in 94. This is gonna be a great season. The countdown is on. Three days, 5 and one half hours. IT"S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

If we were playing UCLA, GA, or Pitt I might be a little more concerned than I am now.

I don't believe in jinxes. I believe in blocking and tackling and we have the better blockers and tacklers.

Vols 38-10 in a cake walk where everyone plays.

Jim Bob Cooter will be under center at the end. :biggrin2:

Tennessee has never won on Sept. 3 but if you want a good omen then UT has never finished lower than 4th in the final rankings in a year which the baseball team went to the world series.

I have a black cat, I break mirrors on occassion, walk under ladders all the time, open my umbrella in the house, saw my wife before our wedding (still married after 17yrs!) so will we be jinxed? I highly doubt it!

I'm not worrying about what I can't control. But we are gonna kick some ass, so don't sweat.
