We are playing 9 teams next year that made a bowl tonight. One of them wasn't Florida and they probably won't be down long. We will definitely find out early how much improvement has been achieved.

It's going to be another tough year but we are in the SEC. If you want to be a big dog you have to beat big dogs.

People know UT won't be down forever. hopefully next year we'll be a team you can't overlook or sleep on. At least the schedule might be slightly more favorable.

Trying to rebuild a defunct football program in the modern SEC is a very tall order. It may take longer than we all want, but we'll be bigger, stronger, faster because of it.

I don't see how it's possible for anyone to have a tougher schedule than we had this year.

I'll need to see lots of solid proof of that claim.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

You might be eating crow on this one too. Utah State and Arkansas State are much better than APSU and Western KY. At OK not much different than at Oregon. Road games with GA, SC, Vandy, and Ole Miss. Ole Miss is no Auburn this year, but they will be very tough. Not to mention FL, Bama, and MO. Only game that was a better swap was South Alabama for UTC. Some Vol fans in Chattanooga might disagree.

It's more accurate to say that we swapped APSU for UTC, because they're both in FCS.
And, we swapped WKU and S. Alabama for Utah St. and Arkansas St.

We play in the toughest conference in America. Every year is going to be like this..

May as well give Butchy 4 years. He's at least getting SEC level talent into the program in more places than receiver so far. We won't be down too much longer with this kind of recruiting.

Well if that is the way you feel just shut the program down...go watch Cunzo try to coach...now that should be real exciting for ya...:clapping:

Yep, we're going to have a tough schedule next year and the year after and the year after. That's SEC football. The schedule isn't going to get easier, so the players and coaches have to get better.

Easy. I was just trying to say the schedule doesn't get much easier next year. I am excited about the future and I think the program is heading in the right direction. It's just going to take time.

True. Bama, Florida, Georgia, and SC are always going to be there. The problem is the non-conference schedule. Vandy has 4 gimmes next year while we play much tougher teams. Cost us a bowl game this year and could next. You can play a respectable team without having to play OR or OK (i.e. NC State, VA Tech, UNC, etc.). GA has played top teams too and it bit them. You rarely see Bama play a top non-conference team and it hasn't cost them on strength of schedule. It wouldn't have cost OSU this year either if they hadn't lost to Sparty. I hope Hart is smarter about scheduling than Hammy was.

UT is 1-2 against those teams recently, so I'm not sure what your point is.

As far as Bama goes, they've played VT, Penn State and Michigan recently.

As someone said earlier, it's how you lose (when you lose). UT was simply blown out 4 times this year. I would rather see UT be competitive against Oklahoma than beat Austin Peay. (NO, I'M NOT SAYING I WOULD RATHER SEE UT LOSE!). IMO, it's more of a guage of where UT is as a program. If next year is going to be a struggle anyway, struggle and get better against good teams.

Come 2015-16, they'll be ready.

Actually Ark St, since Freeze and Gus left weren't quite as good this year . In fact Western Ky beat Arkansas St . Utah St while a bowl team basically lost to the better teams they played . If we are going to improve from last year we have to win these games .There really will be no excuse to lose either of these games

My point is, I don't have a problem playing a non-conference top 25 team, but I don't think it's smart to play perennial top 5 teams. Especially when your roster is depleted. Did you enjoy the Oregon game? The difference with NC State, UNC, and VA Tech is that I would expect UT to win those games or at least be in the game. Same thing with UCLA and CAL even though those didn't turn out well either. If I am going to a game, I would much rather see a good opponent, but when it comes to rankings, bowls, playoffs, etc., every win is huge. As far as Bama goes, you just made my point. VA Tech, MI, and PSU were not top 5 or even top 10 teams when they played. And yes, I realize the schedules are made years in advance. I do agree with you on 2015/16.

I agree and I expect to win these games. I was just saying Utah State and Arky State are better than some think.
