In a game of two distinctly different halves, the #9 Lady Vols held a 21-point halftime lead and held on for a 72-67 at #23 LSU on Thursday night.

A road win is always welcome, but the Lady Vols became complacent with their big first half lead and lost their defensive intensity in the second half. The refs calling all the fouls didn't help any either.

Correction, the officials kept LSU in the game and continued throughout to change the ending.

Nice win, important win--but again, terrible assist to turnover ration. 9 Assists, 22 turnovers. UT overcame the turnovers because they shot the ball unusually well and played good defense, especially in the first half. With a more typical shooting night--say, 42 percent rather than 47, 22 turnovers would get you beat against a decent team. Warlick has got to solve the bad passing/turnover issue if she expects to beat anybody good--and lsu, it turns out, isn't all that good.

A lot of turnovers come because of trying to force the ball into the interior players even though they are being closely guarded. The interior players also insist on trying to dribble the ball in the paint area with multiple defenders around them and inevitably get the ball stolen.
