The thread with the Gary Parrish interview has his take on the rehire of Petrino. He said the Louisville athletic director was the most respected in the nation and that his bad blood with Petrino was really bad but he thought about the university's welfare and maintaining the level to which they have risen and maybe even take it to a higher level. It was a no-brainer for him. Very interesting take on the BP situation.

There has NEVER been an NCAA school fire a coach and then hire the same person back! It is not going to happen, I wish it would but I am not getting my hopes up. I hope a quality coach is hired, one who can actually talk and say words in an interview. One who has a personality. One who might get T ed up when his team is not getting a fair shake!!!! One who can lead his team to win close games. One who can make the sum better than its parts.

It is by no means a foregone conclusion that we will be hiring a new coach, especially after today. Let's just see how the season plays out.

Coach Martin will either be fired at the end of this year or at the end of next year when the team will fight to get into the NIT. You have to win at least half your games to get into the NIT. Why not do it this year and be one year ahead of the rebuilding process.

I hear this stated often. I would like to know how successful those coaches were. If its some average Joe's then yeah, why hire a bum that may cheat. If he had an amazing record then if a school wouldn't rehire him then thats different.

Ronnie Arrow with South Alabama comes to mind, and there are likely others.

Because buy-outs have taken what should be a reserve of 30 million to just over 1 million. And a few of them are still being paid out, to Hamilton and Dooley to mention two. In a crap economy, and in this situation, it is a hard decision to fire another coach, and deplete the reserve fund more. I see your point, but that is why Hart will think long and hard before making that move this year.
