Take a good look at Penn State last year. They were 4-7. People were calling for Joe Pa's head. This year they are 9-1 right now.

Look at their QB situation last year. Michael Robinson was horrible. This year he's flipped around and led a somewhat decent team to a great year. Their only loss? Michigan 27-25.

While they are not the same there are a lot of parallels here. QB rotation with two poor ones. One comes back and turns the team around after having a hideous previous year. The offense goes from scoring at most 18 points in a game last year to 7 games with 30+ points.

Hopefully we can do the same if not better. No giving up, no doubting, no surrender. Win out this year and see you next year in K-Town.

They have a 1st year OC and 1st year QB coach, too. Personally, I don't think UT will give Fulmer as many chances as Paterno if Fulmer ever has a losing season, or 2, or 3 in a row. Penn State has had 4 losing seasons out of the last 5. I can't believe that Paterno lasted as long as he did. Do you think Fulmer would have a chance to redeem himself if he ever had even 2 losing seasons, let alone 4?

Penn State is also getting a lot of offensive help by Freshmen. Their defense has also matured a lot this year and is very stout.

I'd hope that as well but can he be bought out? Is his contract up in 2011? If that's true can we even hang on 4 to get close enough for a buyout? I think Fulmer's a smart guy. I think given the right 'incentive' he'd right the ship over losing his job. Self preservation. He'd never let it get that far....or would he?

Penn State went 4 - 7 with players that should go 4 - 7.

We are 4 - 5 with players that should be 9 - 1 or 10 - 0.

What if we upped it to $500? Help the cause man....bring in a Tom DeLay fundraiser and we can do this.

It's joe pa though. He's been coaching since before my dad was born... can you say winningest coach in history? (Right?) I don't think he should ever stop coaching. I met him twice when he came to Sherrard recruiting two players in 2001. I was a Freshman then... but I still appreciated him as much as the next person did. I respect him more than any other coach ever... NFL or NCAA. Best coach ever... hands down. And you wonder why they are 9-1.

I think once you coach multiple undefeated teams and donate all the money for the campus library, you get to coach as long as you want.

I think Fulmer gets the same chance Joe Pa does. And for a lot of the same reasons....

But there's one glaring difference between the two situations...PSU has been down for several years, and it took 4-5 years of constantly being 2nd guessed and critisized before he really made some adjustments to they way he does things...

Now for us, we are having 1 REALLY bad year, and by no means are we having the kind of down turn they have had...consecutive losing records??? At worst, we could wind up with one losing season in 17, get a good hire in and turn it back around in one, two years tops. AT best, we finish 6-5 play in a bowl game and still call it a crappy year...but still comparing apples to apples, still, not as bad as what PSU has had to endure.

Hopefully Phill will look at what Paterno has done, especially from a "change in philosphy" stand point, and make the necessary changes. For years, Joe wouldn't play freshman. He didn't like to throw it, he WAS Phil Fulmer!@!!!! He didn't win his 1st National Title til when? 30 years in to his HC career?? Phill has to make some changes about his ways of doing things as well. It is the ability to make those changes about YOUR system and thought process that make good coaches GREAT coaches....Adapt, Overcome, Compensate.

Go Vols. Please don't suck anymore.
