I believe if there was a map for countries by free-est trade or capitalism, it would mirror it pretty nicely. The flip side is that they probably have the highest median gdp per capita as well.

The U.S. should be more like Bangledesh and have a public debt per capita of $228.88.

Interestingly, we didn't go "deep red" until 2008 - we really ramped it up over the last decade and the projections going forward are terrible.
