Watching the 2nd half and OT this evening, I was awed by the pure determination of our boys. A few examples:

Mahelona blowing up the O-Lineman, after a plane flight, 100+ degree weather, 4 quarters of football, and a seemingly insurmountable lead in the first half. . . .carrying the lineman (who was holding him) as he charged toward Russell.

Riggs absolutely shoving LB #31's face to the ground on the screen in OT.

Riggs hitting the defender on the 1/2 yard line and knocking him a yard and a half into the endzone for the score. . . .then throwing the much larger man off of him.

Crazy that, like in the SECCG, Riggs seems to play better late in the game. Call him the Energizer Bunny. Everyone else looked tired, but he was hitting the hole full speed. Check out the 22 yard run that set up the tying FG. It looks like he's been superimposed at a different film-speed.

Thinking back, I think one thing that got underplayed was the way we were crushing the pocket on Russell in the second half. We didn't sack him much, but most of the time when he dropped back, he was having to move around and wasn't getting a chance to just sit back there and throw.

I think that Parker deserves a little bit of praise. That was a tough environment against a good Dline. I thought that overall, he did a great job.

I felt like I had watched two totally different games!! What did that second half Tennessee team do with that Tennessee team that showed up in the first half?

Easy, during halftime they switched their bad water with LSU's special water. The rest was history.

I think they got a hold of some bad peanuts on the flight over.

Seriously, LSU had some special water. Some sort of solution that you put in water. It was supposed to help keep them hydrated. After seeing LSU's players rolling around in that second half, I'd take that junk back to Sam's Club.

Pedialyte,Single-serving, half-pint squeeze bottles are fun and easy to hold. Delicious cherry and apple flavors, available in convenient 4-packs. Each package contains 4 8-fl-oz bottles your kids will just hate.

I was most impressed with the D-front. They never backed down or really ever looked as tired as they had to be.

I want to see the first half again just to see if it was really as bad as I thought.

The thing that I found most impressive was the demonstration of just how much the line play means in the Southeastern Conference. It looks like two completely different lines. In the first half our offensive line gave Ainge zero protection and gave Riggs very few holes with which to make big plays. Our defensive line was making experts look stupid for picking them to be the toughest D-line in the country.

In the second half, Clausen got all the protection he needed times four, Riggs got plenty of big play opportunities not to mention our big uglies were just slapping around LSU's d-linemen. Our own d-linemen were giving all sorts of pressure to Russell.

Just goes to show how important line play is in SEC football. Without it, you don't stand a chance.
