A dilemma rooting for other teams

Ok, hear me out.

Of course I'm a Tennessee fan and alum, so I always want our rivals to lose. Easy enough.

However, I now live in a part of the country FLOODED with Virginia Tech and Penn State blowhards.

I HATE Alabama as much as any Vol fan, but I gotta say, it pleases me more when Alabama crushes VT or PSU, because it shuts these fools up. It hasn't been as bad this offseason because VT fans have been relatively quiet, but I don't want to hear about how awesome VT is IF they actually were to beat Alabama.

Does anyone else have this, or a similar, problem?

It's not so much rooting for but when a team like Va Tech or whomever plays an SEC team like Bama and gets crushed, those fans always say something like, "Wow! They're really good."

I reply with, "No Sh&t! Now go play UF, USC, and UGA in the next 3 games instead of Duke, Wake, and Maryland and then talk to me."

my parents now live in VT country and growing up right on the TN/VA border, it was nauseating watching how many VT fans suddenly sprung up once Beamer and Vick got them rolling. Went to a college with a bunch of tOSU fans that developed an intense hatred for them inside me. But I never got over my intense hatred of all things Notre Dame and Alabama. I would cheer for tOSU every day over Alabama and VT every day over ND.

Definitely something psychological going on there. Regional pride takes over with the SEC brand. Hope Tennessee does something, anything vs the quackers. But frankly, I warned volnation to stop the madness before it was too late. Now I fear if you don't take that long plane ride, people are going to talk.

I only cheer for 2 teams. Tennessee and the team playing against Kiffin.

I would like to add Another...Tennessee, the team playing Kiffin and the team playing Alabama.

But....What if Kiffin(USC) was playing Alabama?.......................mind blown pshhhh

I get an earful from all the Penn State homers and the local papers have the Nittiny Lion section, barely mentioning anything else. Well, except for Maryland because their coach is a local product.. SEC etc don't exist up here.

IMO Virginia Tech never has been good. They play in a weak conference and there coach is mediocre at best. I look forward to Bama beating the dog piss outta them.

Oh, of course I know about that, I just didn't understand who he was talking about.. I thought he was reffering to V Tech, because they are playing Bama this weekend. I was like, are V Tech really that dodgy?
