A Doggie Tale

I saw this on the news. I don't get it. Why kill the dog? Her reasons and whatever, but just don't get it.

Wow. I don't get this either. Why not let the dog live a nice life and have a picture of the dog buried with you?

Hopefully some with some sense steps in and takes the dog. Can't believe any vet agreed to put down a perfectly healthy dog based on these circumstances.

I'm with you guys, however, my wife makes a fair point. We have a Malinois and a Czech Sheppard, extremely protective dogs especially of her. She said she might be inclined to do the same so not to put these extremely loyal dogs into the hands of someone who doesn't understand them.

Fair enough... However, maybe you should plan for them to go somewhere you think would be a good fit for them as opposed to putting them down.

That's why I said might be. Believe me, it would be the last option. We absolutely love these dogs. OP's link made us discuss the possibility.

Tremendously selfish. Just disgusting. If you love something you should want it to live a happy and healthy life.

I don't understand the desire to do this, but the dog is that woman's property. Since it is stated in her will, they should grant her wish. Sucks for the dog.

People get jail time for animal cruelty even when it is their "property".

I really hope they don't honor the woman's will. I'm sorry, but she's dead. She'll never know. That's disgusting.

If I went outside and shot my dog in the head or one of my cows or something else, I wouldn't go to jail. Neglect, mistreatment, and cruelty are not the same as killing if done swiftly.

Doesn't mean I agree with it, but it is what it is. Property is property.

I would think there would need to be a valid reason for the shooting in the head myself.

Depends where you did it. Out in the country, probably nothing would happen to you. In a suburb or city limits, you'd get in trouble.

You'd get in trouble for shooting a firearm inside city limits, and a bunch of liberal peta hippies would ***** at you, but they couldn't take legal action.

Having had many family members die, their last wish would be much much much more important that any dog's life. No matter how odd the wish is, like in this case.
