Guys don't get so stressed out searching for news about new commits every day. CLK is laying the groundwork now for next year. He's also going after the ones he feels we have a legitimate chance to sign on NSD. We will have some new (no way to tell just how many as of yet) highly rated recruits become future Vols on NSD. Be patient. :good!:

setting the ground work so that there is a pipeline to UT that recruits will be racing to take. That is how I think CLK is setting this thing up. I hope so any ways.

You got to figure Kiffin has been recruiting with very little staff, and what staff has been out there have essentially been lame-duck. Now that his staff is coming together, it should be a very interesting and hopefully fruitful* January.

It seems like most of the question marks about Tennessee aren't around Kiffin, the program, or anything but who our staff will be. I think you're absolutely right, that is killing us right now.

Regardless, I couldn't care less if we have 0 guys in this recruiting class. I'm not gauging his recruiting prowess until he has a full recruiting year to work magic. Right now it's like he's jumped into an intramural basketball tournament with 4 other random guys against a bunch of teams that have been playing together for years. Not to mention all the other teams have a 20 point head start.

Patience is a virtue that many forget about around here. It takes time for a plan to unfold.

And, welcome to the jungle.

I'm with ya.

But if we have any defensive recruits who were maybe leaning towards us or still trying to narrow it down, you've gotten believe they feel pretty good about UT right now.

I just want the Bucs to miss the playoffs so Monte can call em in a few weeks.

I hate to say it, but I remember the same things being said last year...

I agree, we will probably have a few surprises between now and NSD. Thing is, Kiffin is playing catchup. He will have all of next year to work on the 2010 class, but for now, he can only try to keep what we have, try to get the ones to commit that have been considering UT, and maybe land a surprise or two. I really don't see how he can do any more than that. He has also been working with a very limited staff, and some of them will not even be retained. That has to complicate things. When he get his staff in place, especially with coach O more than likely coming, recruiting will be good.

I am about as patient as they come but I think most Vol fans are drastically underestimating how badly an off recruiting year could hurt this program. Saban had the #10 class his first year and inherited a team that had been 15th, 18th, and 11th in the previous 3 years.

UT's last three classes have been 23rd, 3rd, and 35th... and remember the 3rd rated class lost: 5* O'Neal, 4* Melancon, and possibly 4* Sykes.

Forget the rankings. If CLK doesn't have a recruiting class good enough to help right away then his time could run out before he gets the players. Most importantly he needs DT's and playmakers at WR.

We do need a decent year. In fact, that was part of the attraction of getting Kiffin early so he could try to salvage a decent class.

It will be harder to recruit if we have back to back losing season. We need enough help to win 8 games or so this year. Then we should be fine in 2010.
