Got to be careful here as Florida hasn't taken the field yet and it seems like a lot of games (including obviously UT's) a bit closer than expected.

1. Its only the first game. Obviously some things to be tightened up, especially in terms of running game. Riggs was outstanding outside the tackles and in the open field. Not so much running into the line -- seemed not to get up a head of steam. Got to sweep toss with him more. Also, can't understand the delay penalties at the very end. No real reason for those -- they weren't to run clock.

2. Obviously, the QB controversy is over.

3. You might drop in the polls. Frankly, you probably should.

4. I thought the run defense was very, very good for UT. Teams are going to open it up and pass a lot on you. Good in the sense that you know what your weakness is. Bad in the sense that so does everyone else.

5. Hard to tell right now if UAB is a lot better than thought or UT not as good. Probably a bit of both.

6. Overall, not the best start but better than an L and in a few weeks it won't matter at all, anyway.

I'd say that is pretty much dead on.

TY GaVol. Its a learning experience. By the way, all UT fans at the end of the game that booed when Clausen took a knee should be summarily executed.

Yeah, I heard that. It was completely classless and embarassing.

Just shows a failure to understand that you have won. Why snap the ball and run a play with the even infinitesimal chance of a turnover? Besides, had they done it to make the score look better, that's what ESPN would have said anyway so you don't help yourselves.

I saw the game here on Jefferson Pilot, which is notorious for poor sound. It seemed REALLY quiet throughout. What was it really like?

The entire crowd in Neyland was embarassing... I know judging it from TV is hard but I've heard freakin' Reser Stadium at Oregon State make more noise than that

Well, hard to get psyched for UAB and then it got weird. BTW, Clausen is the real deal. So was that UAB kid.

The crowds in Neyland the last couple of years have been notorious for being dead when we play anybody other than GA, FLA or Alabama.

Well I just say your team needs to be careful aginst wyoming today. that is a very good team. I say we will be better than what we played today but no way are we overrated. We won our game today aginst the best team in conf USA. I say we did well.

I know. It is scary, especially with OU going down in the meantime. Crikes, why can't we start with La. Tech?

The big things I came away with from that game were:

1. Ainge isnt playing with the confidence or composure he had last year. Clausen is going to get most of the snaps this year unless that changes.

2. The pass defense is not where it needs to be yet. What really bothers me about this is, you pretty much have a shutdown corner on one side with Jason Allen. When Jason Allen graduates and Mahelona (with that pass rush), I'm afraid those other guys in the secondary (save for Morley) are going to be exposed.

3. If the defense has to hold the opponents down to 14 points or less every game its going to be a long season. I think the defense has been carrying this team for a couple of years now, looks like that is not going to change any time soon.

4. The offense and Randy Sanders is going to get a lot of criticism.

Lawgator I thought your analysis was on target too.

I say your assement in points 3 and 4 are alittle off. How does randy sanders get the blame for drop balls and passes thrown 15 feet over the recivers head.

That's true . . . We had 8-10 dropped balls and two horrible throws that Randy Sanders had nothing to do with.

I think the criticism Sanders is going to get is the offense only putting up 17 points against UAB. I dont think anyone in here thought before the game UAB would hold us to 17 points.
