After the game last night, several media members tweeted that Cameron Tatum said he would run through a wall for Coach Martin.

I know Cam has had his ups and downs, but as a middle school coach myself, that is one of the best compliments a player can give to his coach.

I know our talent level sometimes leaves a little to be desired, but I, for one, am proud to have Coach Martin at the helm.

there is no doubt that CCM is getting the most out of everyone of these guys, and that they absolutely love him. i expect this persona to show on recruits as well, and will rub off on them and they will get the same vibe both on in home visits and official visits to tennessee.

it is way too early but i really think that we found a gem here in coach martin.

I defended his hiring to the point of almost being banned last year. Glad he is living up to my expectations.

i was really skeptical in the first few hours, however went home and did some research and really liked what i read.

the next day talked to some family friends who actually were teachers at purdue while he was there. they had a son who played football and had very close friends with some of the guys on the basketball team, so they were very close to the team as well.

they told me that we hired a great guy and really talked him up alot. went on and on about his personality and ethics along with work ethics, but ya know i just kind of figured they were talking him up.

after those couple conversations i had with them i became very excited for ccm and to see what he was going to bring to the program. i am very happy that they were spot on.

The jury is still out.. Just like we shouldn't bury Dooley yet, we shouldn't crown Martin as the next coach K. It's his first season, and it's had good moments, along with some terrible ones.. I do have faith, and hope he succeeds though.

You mean we shouldn't compare Cuonzo to one of the greatest coaches of all time? Why not?

A bit off topic, but when I heard the Tatum quote about running through a wall for Cuonzo, I had an overwhelming feeling deja vu. I racked by brain yesterday trying to think of where I've heard someone say that before, and I finally remembered. John Fields was quoted in a KNS story last year as saying the exact same thing about Pearl. He was grateful for the opportunity to play for a high-major school and have a chance of playing in the NCAA tourney, "I'd run through a wall for that man".

I hope this cliche stops circulating among our team members after Tatum leaves. Wouldn't mind never hearing it again. On a serious note, says a lot about Cuonzo and Tatum. Good to hear, cliche aside.

When he brought his MSU teams to Knoxville last year, one could tell he was a good coach. He almost beat us and he talent was about half of Tennessee's. If he can recruit as well as it appears, we will win a lot of games as long as he is our coach.

Cam's shooting hasn't been where he would like it, but his defense, court awareness and Bball IQ hasn't diminished. That's why CCM likes him. There's an element to his game that will be missed next season, but Josh Richardson might be that guy that brings it.

figured that team chemistry and players buying into coach zo would make all the difference. I think we found a diamond in the rough, and given some time I think he'll prove that to us.

CCM is not only an excellent coach, he is a class act all around !!!!

This.

I appreciate the character of the man. Not only is he professional and passionate about the game, he is a role model to these young men. I sure like what I see this year. Hope he continues to build into an NCAA tourney caliber team.

GBO!

I think we got a diamond in the rough with Coach Martin. He has gotten the team to play amazing defense and they all respect him so much. If I was a parent of a recruit...he is the type guy I would want my son to play for. Now let's go beat Bama!

Guys if we win Saturday at Bama get ready for some serious bubble talk! So dont go crazy on here when it happens! But back to Coach Martin, this guy is my kind of coach! He is doing a great job this year and lets keep it Positive on here the rest of the year even if we don't finish like we all hope. This team has already passed anything I could have ever imagined for this team!

For all the hell that Mike Hamilton caught at UT, he made two very inspired hires while he was here: Bruce Pearl and Cuonzo Martin.

I know it's early too, but I do like what I see out of Coach Martin so far.

We could not have hired a better coach, person, etc... than CCM. I still think it speaks volumes to hear Jarnell Stokes talk about Coach Martin being the main reason he chose UT over Memphis, FL, KY and others. CCM is such a class act. Even earlier in the season when things were tough, he NEVER made excuses and always stayed positive. I have a feeling that any player that spends 4 years under CCM will learn more about how to live their life than anything. Obvioulsy he can coach, but he has that special and rare talent of relating to players and making them better human beings. I love this guy!

I don't think that CCM is a diamond in the rough. I feel that he is very polished. His players however are mostly diamonds in the rough, but CCM is getting some polish on them as the season progresses. After a full off season with CCM, next years team will begin to match CCM's polish. Then the Vols will truly shine!

I'm only crowning him as the next coach Martin. I'm very skeptical of his recruiting prowess, or lack thereof.
