More I read ab this guy the more I like him. I think he's going to turn out as a good hire. Mr. SEC had a great article / perspective on Martin this morning.

bruce didn't play in the pros...Martin on the other hand, albeit very short, did. I'm thinkin he's seen the game at all levels. And I really doubt we are losing that "players coach" bs that seemed to be the only thing Pearl ever offered as a coach.

Just read the Stevie Pearl twitter note, and I think people are starting to see the lack of class carried on by that family. What a shame.

We now know why Ware is a VFL. Let's hope Jones and others decide that they like the way things are going as well.

If you build with strong defense first, you score baskets off transition that mean something instead of running up and down the court like an all star exhibition game. Good defensive skills lead to good rebounders on both ends of the court as you learn to use your feet and bodies better. This leads to being in position for more second chance points when your outside shooters miss.

So, if this guy is all about effort, and Pearl was lax on it, why on Earth wasn't Pearl canned long ago?? A coach talking about a team giving effort is just coach speak. Every coach in America says this, why does it make Martin a better coach, in contrast to all the other coaches who say this??

All he had to offer? How many other coaches in America had the same amount of success has Pearl during the last six yrs?

I support Zo 100% but this bashing of Pearl is ridiculous.
