We still jave an opportunity to pad these stats by winning out, perhaps stealing a weak East and go 10-2,11-2,9-3,10-3 or, who knows?

Regardless, I saw this as a gap season and I think Heupel deserves some slack from some people.

All anyone has to do is ask themselves what our reg season record was against teams ranked by the end of the year across all of the previous coaches following Fulmer to put things into perspective.

We beat 4 teams ranked in the top 25 by the end of last year. In fact, I checked and it’s dead even when you add up Heupel’s reg season wins against final top 25 teams and all of the other coaches combined.

2008 - Fulmer - 0
2009 - Lane Kiffin - 0
2010 - Derek Dooley - 0
2011 - Derek Dooley - 0
2012 - Derek Dooley - 1
2013 - Jones - 1
2014 - Jones - 0
2015 - Jones - 1
2016 - Jones - 0
2017 - Jones - 0
2018 - Pruitt - 2
2019 - Pruitt - 0
2020 - Pruitt - 0
2021 - Heupel - 1
2022 - Huepel - 4

We all did mentally know that 2023 should be a gap season; but the Orange Bowl gave us hope that it would be something more. So yeah, I am definitely cutting Heupel some slack.
The next few games are critical however in determining whether the season meets reasonable expectations or is considered underachieving. Kentucky and Missouri are both good solid teams; but they are teams we should beat even in gap years. If we “hold serve” and beat them and win everything remaining except Georgia, I consider 2023 a success. If we pull the upset and beat Georgia, then 2023 becomes downright impressive.
Just my two cents.
But MAN, I wish we had that Florida game back 😡

Perspective? Dude has beaten Bama, Florida and had the team ranked #1 in the country in the first few years he’s been here. We’re recruiting at a high level. Not in the news for kids doing DA stuff off the field. He did this with a heavily depleted roster. Anyone that’s overly critical needs a firm boot in their ass.

I was real mad through about yesterday about the Bama game. But then I realized we're a good ball team. We aren't nervous about even making a bowl. After going through Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt, I'm just glad we're here.
