Yesterday June 2, 2015 my great nephew Tristin Greer was laid to rest. He was 18 years old and had been fighting Neurblastoma (cancer) for 5 years.

Neurblastoma is a childhood cancer that normally strikes children between the age of 2-4 years. Tristin was the rare exception getting it when he was 13.

Tristin had to travel frequently to Chicago and New York for treatment and he met dozens of other children there and in Chattanooga with the same cancer. Being a teenager in those hospital wards he was a Mini celebrity to those kids and the little ones just loved him to pieces and he loved them.

The stunning fact is, of all those children he met over 5 years there is only 1 still alive, A little 8 year old girl who is still fighting to survive.

If you would like to help in the fight against this horrible disease that preys on children I would like to suggest 3 charities that could use the support.

Those are two local charities in Chattanooga that really do great work. If you Donate please do it in Tristins name.

Also The Ronald McDonald House is a good charity it was a blessing to our family the past 5 years. So the next time you are grabbing a burger and fries toss your change into the jar. They do good work with the money.

RIP Tris we will miss you.

The out pouring of love for Tristin in the Chattanooga area has been amazing. I didn't know Tristin or his family but he reach is far and wide in the area.

Praying for peace for his family in this difficult time.

I'm really sorry for what he and your family have had to go through. I can't begin to imagine how awful it is. You will all be in my prayers.

thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers, but my real purpose for this thread was to try and draw attention to the plight of these children. When my sister (Tristin's Grandmother) told me at the funeral home that of all of the children that Tristin had met and became friends with in 5 years at those hospitals only 1 was still alive it shocked me to my core.

My hope was to direct the power of Volnation to those small charities that do so much good work. They need all the help they can get.
