A Nightmare on Elm Street

remakes make money. Why be original when you can take a movie, make it modern and make just as much money?

The lack of Robert Englund makes this movie pretty lame. Overall, I'm getting pretty sick of Hollywood and their constant remaking/rebooting of franchises.

Jackie Earle Haley wasn't too bad of a replacement I suppose. As for Michael Bay, he sucks but at least he has experience producing stuff like this(see reboots of Friday the 13th, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Amityville Horror, and their sequels).

So, with Bay directing, we can expect a lot of explosions, action, and a terrible storyline? Cool.

Michael Bay is producing. Sam Bayer is directing in his first attempt at a feature film. His only directing experience via making music videos.

What are your talking about? Special effects and explosions are an important plot technique of the story :p

When is this trend of adding an article to the front of the title's name to "make" it a remake going to end?

New ideas are in short supply. Changing the names often works. remember Doc Hollywood? Ever see Cars? Same movie. Same plot. Elm Street was boring when it came out. Can't see it making a bunch of cash now. Maybe Rob Zombie could take some of the biggest box office disasters and remake them in his style. THAT would be a real challenge.
Gigli, a Rob Zombie film.
