If his ranch is the route of choice, why isn't the Border Patrol frequenting the area?

I didn't know illegal immigrants were afforded our civil rights, being they aren't, you know, citizens.

12,000 since 1998? Damn. That's about 1,100-1,200 per year, which averages out to about 4-6 illegal immigrants per day.

He should have killed a few of them, and dumped them at the Mexican edge of his property. Word would spread real quick that isn't the place to cross.

Our government has failed him, just like they are failing all of us.

What he should do is have a crew clean up all that garbage and feces they leave on his property. He should send the bill to the white house and dump all that garbage on Federal land in DC.

Why do you go this far?
Read the article.

He tried to do what was right, and look what happened. These scumbags have no respect for him or his property. Their lives are of what value?

Have you ever heard the saying, "some people are alive, only because it is illegal to kill them"? These vermin fit that description.

There is a reason this man has to resort to armed confrontation. Do you honestly think he would still be alive if he showed up unarmed?

All lives have value, remember our Constitution and its preamble.

The fact you are alive do NOT give you the right to destroy other's property, or trample on their rights.

Should I be intentionally destroying the property built by another man's hard work, and he kills me. Shame on me. I got my just due.

The law says otherwise.

I think the government has failed this man, but killing people because they trespass and destroy property is going too far. If they pull a weapon and he feels threatened then he has every right to use deadly force.

The law also says these vermin are committing an illegal act, just by being there. Hence the term, illegal aliens. The destruction of property and threat to this man's safety are compounding factors.

Absolutely correct, but the law does not allow you to kill because your property is being vandalized.

This man has more than given the law a chance to halt the illegal activity. They have obviously failed.

He is well within his rights to take whatever steps necessary to protect his family and property. Many of these people are dangerous individuals.

While I'm at least as resolute as 'Jug about rights to protect home and hearth I really hate the idea of just killing people if I can help it. What I think we should do is:

1. Get serious, and I mean deadly serious about employing illegals. I mean you get caught once we fine you and put you under a microscope. Get caught again we fine you BIG TIME and tell you that the next time you're caught your assets of forfeit. By that third time we don't care what you're story is.

2. You get caught you get deported after a full picture, fingerprint and DNA workup. You are dropped on the other side of the border with VERY detailed descriptions of how you are not wanted back and you will be interned in a work camp for not less than 6 months if caught here again. I'm talking not much more than water, bread and chain gangs here. We tried to be nice and you didn't care. Now it's our turn not to care all that much.

3. If you are part of a criminal outfit (gangs, running guns/drugs etc) you will be deported with malice and put in a special file. If you are found on US soil again you will be considered a terrorist and executed. If you are already on US soil illegally and cause harm to an American citizen your life is forfeit without apology or remorse.

The idea is simple. I want to remove any incentive to be here in the first place.

Neither are the Gitmo detainees, we'll see how that works out.

The more I read about our Attorney General, Eric Holder the more I learn what a sleazy dirt bag the man is.

What has he ever touched that didn't stink to high heaven??

From Mark Rich to FALN to working Blagojevich to advocate for a mob casino, to lobbying for Global Crossing, it seems everything he has touched has been tainted.

Update on the Roger Barnett situation.

On Tuesday an eight-member federal jury in Tucson threw out the claim brought by the six illegal aliens that Roger Barnett violated their civil rights when he detained them at gunpoint on his ranch nearly five years ago. The panel also ruled against the plaintiffs' claims of battery and false imprisonment.

But the jury did find Barnett liable on four claims of assault and four claims of emotional distress, ordering him to pay $77,804 in damages, $60,000 of which were punitive.

(Maybe the pro-union guy in the other thread should sue his poss for emotional distress.)

The Arizona rancher says he would not have had to detain the illegal immigrants if the U.S. government did its job and kept them from trampling across his property.

"My government has let me down. My government has let all of the American people down, whether they know it of not," Barnett laments. "They might think that it's their right to come in the country but it's not. There's [sic] laws and ways to come into this country, and it's not by sneaking across the Mexican border down there."

This is not the first time Barnett has been sued by illegal immigrants. Associated Press reports that his actions have resulted in formal complaints from the Mexican government against what it considers vigilante actions, and in several other lawsuits.

(uh, somebody help me out here, what business does the Mexican government have complaining about American vigilante actions?)
