Mike Hamilton wanted to hire Dave Serrano and even adjusted the job requirements to do so.

Went to Jimmy Cheek to get the approval and Cheek said no due to degree issue.

In a huff Hamilton resigns knowing he has lost power and knows he is getting fired after hearings anyway.

I am the only person in East Tennessee concerned how this effects baseball.

I care about baseball as well. Serrano would be my first choice by far.

Not the only one, but you're definitely in the minority.

I still think it's Dave's job to lose.

It bothered me a few days ago when Cheek told Hyams that the search hadn't begun in earnest. He said he didn't even have a list. A day later or so, Hamilton said he'd narrowed the list. Those are conflicting statements. I'm not sure what to make of it, but Frye, your theory might be spot on. Maybe there's a top notch coach out there that might take the job if he knows who his boss will or won't be.

How much of this is just cleaning house before the NCAA hearing? Why not make this move sooner? It's a real mess. If you believe the rumors, the house was divided on Serrano and Holbrook. I think it looks better TODAY for Holbrook or another candidate not named Serrano, than it did yesterday.
