I was on a team once that looked ahead to a big rivalry the following week and overlooked the team in front of us. We should've been able to beat that team by several scores, easily, but basically everything went against us. We ended up losing that game. The following week of the rivalry game was an intense wake-up call. We had fallen from #2 to #10 and they were #6. We ended up winning the rivalry game. The team has a high ceiling. The APSU game and our poor performance sets the stage for urgent improvement, humility, and focus. You know Heup used it to motivate. The players only meeting is just the right indicator that the team is coming together. The result: WGWTFA!
I agree with most of the comments. But, it’s not really the team as a whole that needs to improve… It’s quarterback played. We had probably seven explosive plays that were not made because Milton couldn’t throw the ball Saturday. That’s not really a team issue. Defense played great, receivers, got open, running backs, played great, etc. It doesn’t matter what the overall team’s mentality is if Milton can’t hit the broadside of a barn. The team has a high ceiling.
