A poor performance is a good omen!

The team has a high ceiling. The APSU game and our poor performance sets the stage for urgent improvement, humility, and focus. You know Heup used it to motivate. The players only meeting is just the right indicator that the team is coming together. The result: WGWTFA!
I was on a team once that looked ahead to a big rivalry the following week and overlooked the team in front of us. We should've been able to beat that team by several scores, easily, but basically everything went against us. We ended up losing that game. The following week of the rivalry game was an intense wake-up call. We had fallen from #2 to #10 and they were #6. We ended up winning the rivalry game.

I see this as being very similar, except the Vols escaped Peay with a victory. I think the Vols have an intense week and go into Gainesville extremely focused and prepared. I believe we see the offense open up more than what we've seen and the defense give a dominant performance. Pearce will be a household name after his performance this weekend and people will be eating crow over their criticism of Milton.

Vols 45
Gators 24 (with a garbage time td late)

It hits me that this game is pivotal not just for importance of a win but a big win has potential of sending gators into the continued coaching turnstile process or a L does a little of what the SC loss did for gamecocks and gives the building momentum. This game is KEY for setting up future gator mojo.

I agree with most of the comments. But, it’s not really the team as a whole that needs to improve… It’s quarterback played. We had probably seven explosive plays that were not made because Milton couldn’t throw the ball Saturday. That’s not really a team issue. Defense played great, receivers, got open, running backs, played great, etc. It doesn’t matter what the overall team’s mentality is if Milton can’t hit the broadside of a barn.
