I know it's not politics, but I've seen bibilcal topics discussed here before so I figured it's be ok.

Genesis 1:1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

My friend at work are of differing opinions. He believes "heaven" is referring to the one Heaven where God dwells. I've said it is a reference to the expanse of space and the planets(the universe) beyond our own.

I'm no expert on early biblical texts, but I thought that it was translated from hebrew meaning something similiar to space or firmness, not Heaven the place.

Basically this is a last resort because I haven't found a website yet that gives a decent explanation of the translated meaning of "the heavens" mentioned in Genesis 1:1.

I have another one after Deeble's is answered.

Read Hebrews Chapter 7. Who was Melchisedec exactly?

Just another priest? An angel? Jesus?

"without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days or end of life."

That statement gets me.

It also says he was made like the Son of God. Brain teaser.
