I can't remember many five stars in either football or basketball that East Tennessee has produced.

Anyway, I wonder if being this close to UT makes the Vols less attractive to them because they see the local team as boring because they know them so well.
In Tee Higgins case, the Vols might not have even been his second choice and he just gave lip service to UT that it was between us and Clemson?

Higgins is kinda a double whammy.
Besides not getting him in our uniform, other teams can use his decision to negative recruit by saying...wow, the Vols can't even get a five star from their own backyard.
Dang it...well, that's life in recruiting these days, I spose.

OK, let's fold the program, bulldoze the stadium, and take a long walk on a short pier. Forget the fact we have had three consecutive recruiting classes filled with highly rated players, and how many five star players have been busts.

No. You may walk around butt hurt about it until your mommy or your fat little girlfriend comes by and tells you, "It's OK." As far as I am concerned, if Higgins doesn't want to be here, we don't need him. We have better receivers (PLURAL!) on the roster right now.

If you want to star gaze, go buy a telescope and take up astronomy.

I think not so much that UT is boring. More so, that most high school kids that are going to college want to get away from home. That is part of the college experience. I know that if I had the opportunity to go to just about any school in the country, I sure would not go to the one in my back yard.

Probably didn't have star rankings back then, but Todd Collins from Jeff Co. was all-american by multiple sources and the USA Today Defensive POY in 1987. Signed with Georgia, so sounds like it was a big loss back then.

I think you're confusing Todd with Brent. Both signed,with Georgia and accomplished very little. Todd even transferred back to UT before settling in at Carson Newman.
At the time they were huge losses in the end it didn't matter at all similar to the two from Oak Ridge who went to Bama.

No, I'm pretty sure Todd was the national defensive player of the year. All the Collins guys were really good.

Both went to Georgia, and you are correct, both got hurt and ended up at Carson Newman. If either were in high school today with the exposure recruits get, I would imagine there would be a huge uproar if they weren't Vols.
