Hey Nation just thought I'd give you a quick update on Laura. She just got back Vandy after her 7th round of Chemo and on the 24th (my birthday) we will go back for a marrow test to see if she's officially in her first remission. She is not only walking and taking stairs on her own she also started driving and shopping once again last month. She still neefs a scooter to navigate Walmart but she gets a little stronger each day. She was even able to walk Ruth in on her first day back to school.
It's still a very long road ahead but if she can reach and maintain a remission then she has a real shot at a cure with Stem Cells. Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia with the Philadelphia Chromosome was pretty much a death sentence in her age range only 10 to 20 years ago but with the advancements in Stem Cell research she now has a 50/50 shot of beating this Nation. Her body has responded to the chemo brilliantly and her leg and arm wound from the MRSA infection has completely healed. I simply can't say enough great things about Vanderbilt Medical University Hospital. Those eggheads may be a snobby at times but they are among the best at what they do. Plus they have a wonderful bed side manner. When someone you love is sick it helps to know that they're being treated and cared for by the medical equivalent of All Pros.
Her odds have went from 10 to 50 percent over the last 8 months and the odds tip in her favor a little more each day.
Thanks for all the continuing support Nation. I simply don't know how I would have made it through those first couple months without you all.
