A REAL VFL, Medal of Honor

recipient UT Class of 1966. Didnt know where to put it but since we are the Volunteers, though this page was appropriate.

Chattanooga High School Class of 1960, also my Alma Mater(65). I see we have something else in common, we were both on the 6 year plan at UT.

Brag a little on CHS, this is our second MoH recipient, Charles Coolidge(Class of 39) honored for bravery in WW ll.

I've heard stories of Cobra crews evac'ing a fellow cobra crew, the two guys strapped to the two blunt wings those birds have.

I've never heard of four guys clambering aboard, and they probably had no time to be strapped on. Talk about a white-knuckle ride back to safety.

Proud of this fella, he's a hero.

The The resolution for a "Medal of Honor" was approved by Congress and signed into law.

Can’t even imagine riding back over a jungle on the side of a cobra with just my arms keeping me on. Wow. Well deserved honor for this hero.

Crazy that a cobra was able to evacuate 4 soldiers like that. Didn’t even know that was possible. Pretty amazing story and embodies the true meaning of a volunteer.

The man’s name is Larry Taylor. He’s from St. Elmo, and so am I, which makes me proud. To try to imagine where those 4 guys were riding/hanging on, here’s an article with a picture.

I served about huey's with the USMC as thier corpsman. Saw a lot of cobras up close. Glad those mean MFs were on our side. Larry Taylor is.one heck of a.brave man!
