How many bands and artists is this now, 6 or so? To be fair, Sam (of Sam and Dave) asked the Obama campaign to stop using "Soul Man," although the Boss has given him rights to use "The Rising" as much as he wants.

Foo Fighters slam John McCain over use of song | Music | guardian.co.uk

"The saddest thing about this is that My Hero was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential," the statement reads, although many fans have speculated that the song, written by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, refers to his admiration for former Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.

"To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song. We hope that the McCain campaign will do the right thing and stop using our song — and start asking artists' permission in general."

All in all I think that it is silly...... free publicity is free publicity and this is all the Foo Fighters are doing.

Pretty soon all McCain is going to be left with is Pat Boone and Ted Nugent.

The Foo Fighters suck...and it has nothing to do with their political views.

This isn't exactly news. Every campaign some liberal musician or group gets offended when a R uses their music. Yawn.

The Foo Fighters are one of my favorite bands....Anyone who is a fan of music can at least admit that they do not suck.

For some reason after I read that, Borat suddenly popped into my head.

I am a tremendous fan of the music, and yet find these foo fighters to..how you say in your country....they do the sucking.
Thanks TennNC.

politics aside, you really think the Foo Fighters suck?

Have you ever seen them live? I haven't, but I'd love to.

I saw some live show they put on through one of the HD channels not long ago that was acoustic, I believe. It was pretty sweet. Maybe it was an acoustic tour.

Politics doesn't spill into my entertainment opinions. If it did I'd be stuck watching Chuck Norris and listening to K.C. and The Sunshine Band all the time.

I'm a huge George Clooney fan if that tells you anything.

I never got into the grunge or the post grunge rock. Pearl Jam was o.k. The idea that Nirvana reinvented rock still doesn't fly with me.

Foo Fighters do not = Nirvana.

And it sounds like you dislike the hype as much as (maybe more than) the music itself.

Even if the style doesn't float your boat, the musicianship is very good IMO.

If I don't like the sound it is hard to appreciate the music. Most bands that make it that far can play together reasonably well. They are probably good musicians. Their music sucks.
