McCain needs to look at the people that are really supporting him and why they are supporting him...

When it comes to your vote for (CANDIDATE CHOSEN IN Q.12), would you say that you are excited to be voting for him, you are satisfied to be voting for him, or you are voting for him as the lesser of two evils?

One more reason why I say that voting for the lesser of two evils is probably the dumbest thing any person can do. Nearly half of the respondents for the GOP say that that are voting against Obama instead of voting for McCain. And nearly 80% are saying that they are not excited about their choice for the GOP nomination.

they should ask the question a different way.

Who would you like to see as President, a European-style socialist or a war hero?

Who would make the best President, a doctrinaire liberal with anti-American radical associations or a moderate republican with a track record of compromise with the democrats?

What do you look for in a President, youthful virility or grizzled toughness?

Who would you rather have a beer with, a Harvard graduate or a Naval Academy graduate?

The euro seems to be doing well lately.

Give me the radical...lets shake things up. Couldn't be anymore harmful than our past presidents relationship with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia... could it?

Lets go with youth...he has to answer those calls at 3 a.m. It would be a bad time with that call coming in with McCain stuck in the john battling his weak stream.

Who would you rather have a beer with, a Harvard graduate or a Naval Academy graduate?
Didn't we try the "who would you rather have a beer with" bit with dubya? .....I'm sick of beer. Give me a guy who can down his vodka tonic and still sink a 3 pointer.

Are you a pollster by profession? Do you work for the McCain campaign?

Those are the type of questions that I would expect from a McCain sheep.

no, no and baaa

Ron Paul supporters are as thin skinned as Obama supporters, it's funny and sad at the same time.

Bob Barr was punked by Sasha Baron Cohen, as much as I might agree with him (Barr), letting some idiot comedian play you for a fool is an automatic disqualifier.

since I'm not a professional pollster, I'm not qualified to really interpret these results, but what the poll also suggests is that by a margin of 2 to 1, people view Obama as the greater of two evils.

and, one thing I do know is that polling registered voters provides useless results. Results from polling likely voters are far more reliable indicators.

So, you have more respect for a member of the Keating 5 and someone that wants amnesty for illegals over some middle aged guy that didn't know who Borat was?

It really seems to me that while McCain was caught up in the Keating 5, which was a stupid mistake...he didn't seem to really fall into as much as some of the others and came out fairly clean. I am not a big (R) supporter, but I never saw the draw of this attack on him...

wasn't McCain cleared of any wrongdoing in the Keating 5 and has he not since then made attempts at redemption?

Despite what you might think, I'm not a blind follower of whoever the GOP puts out there. I have many reservations about McCain and I haven't made up my mind to cast a vote for President in November. McCain's VP choice is what I'm waiting for. If he nominates some moderate milquetoast like Graham or Frist I will either not vote or vote libertarian.

Outside of Cheney, since when has a VP ever had any real impact on a standing president's agenda or even persuaded a president to lean one way or the other? The VP choice is just a convenient way for you to find a one last reason to vote for McCain (as opposed to voting against Obama).

and your point is?

did I take a dump in your cereal bowl or something? You seem to have an axe to grind with me and I don't know why. Was it because I made a decision to not support Ron Paul once I found out he was endorsed by David Duke and his merry band of anti-semites?

I don't have an axe to grind with you personally. I just think that people like you are just reaching for any reason at all to convince yourselves to vote for McCain. If he picks Olympia Snowe, you'll probably look for some other reason to support McCain come November.

then I guess you can't read peoples' minds as well as you thought you could.

You have to admit that waiting for any candidate to name a VP before your decide to throw your support behind them is a pretty weak excuse. I mean, you could make a very compelling argument that a First Lady has more influence on a candidates agenda or how a candidate will govern than a VP (Eleanor Roosevelt, Hillary).

again, you're grinding your axe. How and why I make the decision on who to vote for really isn't any of your concern or your business. However, I'll humor you just a little bit. When the GOP field was fully established, Tom Tancredo was my candidate of choice, followed by Thompson. McCain was among the bottom feeders (Paul, Giuliani) and I knew from McCain Feingold and McCain-Kennedy that I didn't like him.

Unlike you, I hate the thought of this country led by Obama and abetted by Pelosi and Reid in the Congress in the hopes that the GOP will rediscover Newt Gingrich. My best hope for this election is split government, but I can't in good conscience vote for John McCain if his VP choice is weak and won't be someone who can succeed in 2012 or 2016.

Just out of curiosity, are you a Tennessee fan?

I hate it that it has come to this, also. But sadly, it is the GOPs fault that the country is where it is right now. They entered the decade with both the house and senate and the White House. Today, they are on the verge of losing all three. Not to mention Supreme Court nominees. If you would rather live with mediocrity and settle for Gerald Ford/Bob Dole type candidates, then you deserve what you get. I'll vote for Paul, Tancredo, or whoever comes closest to a strict conservative in the general election. Just because McCain is the GOP nominee, that doesn't make him a conservative, nor does it mean that I have to support him.

And the very fact that you have waited this long to make a decision indicates exactly what I said about people like you. You are just waiting for any excuse you can find that will give a reason to justifiably support McCain. The fact that you haven't been able to find a reason to support him up to now is telling. You are just as disgruntled as all of us are, but you choose to maintain the status quo in an effort to support the lesser of 2 evils.

You're not gonna be voting for McCain, you're voting against Obama.

I have nothing against you. I just think that your reason for not supporting McCain right now (pending who his choice for VP is) is a weak excuse. What difference in the overall scheme of day to day governing does it make who the VP is? Unless they are the rare exception (Dick Cheney), most of these guys are just wall flowers on the sidelines, at best. Non-factors at worst.

have you considered that maybe I'm hoping for the "rare exception" once again?
