I hate to say this, but every good team has figured out the same thing. To beat UT all you need to do is 2 things...

1) Run alot of ball screens on offense

2) Run a 2-3 zone on defense

Bonus: Hope UT runs alot of full-court press

I have never seen a team so completely lost when it comes to defending screens. I'd say 60-70% of Gonzaga's shots were completely uncontested off of ball screens & backdoor cuts. If you run enough of them, we will leave someone COMPLETELY wide open.

Also, we cannot score against a 2-3 zone. We dont shoot 3s well enough to get teams out of it, and we refuse to take the ball into the middle of the zone at the top of the key to pass out of it. Our offense the last couple years was predicated on turnovers & transition. The only problem is, you have to play defense to get turnovers.....

Bruce has gotten away from pressing so much this year. I guess he was the last one to realize that other teams were getting 3-4 open dunks for every turnover on the press.

This is a frustrating team to watch play, and I think its going to get worse. Everyone likes to say its just "a tough year with young players." Try to say that about the Kansas team that just whipped us, who lost ALL 5 starters from last year.....

Bruce is flat out getting outcoached. And now would be a great time for defensive guru Steve Forbes to teach how to defend ballscreens and backdoor cuts.

We're atrocious on D, and our halfcourt sets against the zone is pathetic...

Davidson plays with a bunch of midgets and gave a great effort tonight against Duke. We have a bunch of lazy thoroughbreds that don't care if their man scores.
