Should have been 2 out of 3 but getting one win in Gainesville makes the weekend a success. Godley is a horse for sure!

Sorry, I don't like accepting mediocrity. And that's being generous

Nobody does, but it seems like small victories here or there, is about all we get these days as Vol fans, whatever the sport. The Lady Vols on the other hand...GBO!

Nobody is accepting mediocrity, people are accepting the fact that we are moving forward. As previously posted we have not won in Gainesville since 2007 and have not made it to Hoover in awhile either. It was always a win in Gainesville, a win vs. Arkansas, and winning the Georgia and A&M series would put usin Hoover. Next time we go to Gainesville 1 win will not be a success, but with the current state of the program this was definitely an important win and a positive step.

When I was in college getting to Hoover had a special ring; whether it was getting to the tourney or having a date nicknamed Hoover.

Either way, it is special; I can't wait to turn the corner!

No one is accepting mediocrity, but this wasn't and isn't going to become a program that contends for an SEC Championship overnight.

I don't think there's anything wrong with acknowledging that progress is being made. We've been in very close games with teams vastly more talented and experienced than we are. We are playing well enough that some of the breaks and some of those games are starting to go our way. The freshmen we have on the hill are starting to come around a little bit, they'll be ready to step up next season as we take a step forward from battling to make Hoover to battling for a spot in the top half of the conference.

If we're celebrating taking 1 of 3 when we return to Gainesville in two years, then you'll have a point. As it stands, I disagree.

With 14-teams. We are at the point where we should not have a tournament (play another weekend of conference play) or divide back into 2-tournaments of 7-each.

Let's face the facts. We hear glorious stories of Hoover. But it's still Alabama. You know, the Armpit of the South and a soulless concrete stadium in a bit of southern suburban hell.

The top-teams don't throw any of their top arms until they have to and I can't recall a single team that snuck into NCAA play after a good showing in Hoover.

Nope. End one of the Pre-conference weekends and the tourney weekend and play two more series. 12-weekends of SEC baseball with only 1 skipped team. 36-conference games. Teams like Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Kentucky would lose one of the cream puffs and South Carolina and Florida would have one more weekend out-of-state.

Using the last 5 years or so as our guide, what difference would it make to UT if the SEC didn't have a Conference Tournament.........

Hopefully, that will change soon. As long as the conference is making money (tickets and TV), there will be a tournament.
