If Tennessee ends up on the "BCS Bubble," I think the Vols would make a very attractive team for a potential bid considering we didn't make a bowl last year. Vol Fans will be rabid to travel and watch their team play in January.

I totally agree. I believe that if we at least split these next two games we will have a shot.

I'd agree, except that, with our declining performance in bowls and bowl opportunities over the long term, Vol fans fans haven't been as great travelers as we have a name for.

One of the big questions last year was whether, if we actually qualified for the Music City Bowl, if more than a token Vol contingent would show up. According to some of the stories and quotes coming out of the lower-bowl cities and committees, they were glad we didn't qualify.

We have more of a rep amongst ourselves for traveling when it come to bowls lately than we appear to have with bowl committees if the bowl isn't up to what Vols consider our standards. Since 1998 we've been on a steady decline against ranked opponents, and it's effected our travelling numbers when it comes to bowls.

Since the BCS is all about money rather than sports, I think the bubble argument only works if the team we would play doesn't seem like someone the organizers think the Vols would consider a let-down. When it comes to travelling for bowls, we simply haven't been the Vols of old lately....

All of that is true, and I wouldn't be suprised to see that happen in the Cotton Bowl, or Capital One Bowl, etc. But if the Vols get a BCS bid, I'd expect a strong turnout.

Actually, I agree with the the qualification, but it just wouldn't be Amerikun not to recognize your Corvallisness.

That said, the ancient Indian name for Eugene (being a swamp) was "Valley of Pestilence and Death". Did Corvallis have an ancient name, or has simply being there always sucked the life out of people too fast for anything but "Urkkk!" to take hold?

BCS is a longshot....don't know that we're going to win out....and even if we do, if Auburn does as well, they should get the nod over us anyway.

yea bcs is real doubtful, and if we dont get the capital one, we'll drop significantly because the cotton bowl wants arkansas. so since i think we will lose one of the next two and arkansas will likely get the cotton birth(deserving or not) we will probably play in the peach again.

i think at two losses we still have a good shot at the capital one...after than, Outback...

Beats the heck out of staying at home during bowl season, with whatever bowl we end up at.
