I lost all respect for him when he told coaches that the only way he would come back is if he could play CB. Sounds like he was more interested in improving his draft stock for the NFL than he was with winning games for UT. If I was a coache I would have said if you want to come back then we would love to have you but you will play where we want you to play and if he didn't agree to that then I would have said thanks for 3 strong years and good luck in the NFL. Anyone else feel this way?

THIS IS IN NO WAY TRYING TO KNOCK JASON ALLEN'S SKILLS BECASUE HE IS ONE HECK OF A FOOTBALL PLAYER.

Don't try to hedge after posting something like that. That guy was risking a TON of money and may have lost it all. Forgive him if he dared to request a shift back to his natural position.

He didn't "dare a request" he demanded that the only way he was coming back is if he played CB. That doesn't sound like a team player to me. You play where the team needs you not where you want to play.

Absolutely not. He moved to safety because of a need and showed he was a true team player then. He was a shut-down corner before his injury and that was what we lacked last season. Please don't call out one of the biggest true orange hearts. JA is not a selfish player. He laid it on the line every day.

I am pretty sure it was the coaches idea to have him play corner as they knew it would be in his best interest. A person that knows Jason told me last year that he would do whatever to help the team.

Regardless, he came back and gave us 4 years of his life busing his butt in orange. I don't see how I could lose respect for a kid that plays hard every day and came back to this great university for the love of the game, his team, and his coaches to try and win a championship.

In the 4 years of watching and reading about JA, this is the first negative thing I have heard anybody say about him.

This makes me sad. Don't do something like this. He's a well respected player... he deserves our respect for giving it all. A tear came to my eye when he went down. I loved watching him play.

KNOW IT DOESN'T LACK KNOWLEDGE OR TRUTH. THE TRUTH IS THAT HE TOLD THE COACHES THAT HE WOULD ONLY COME BACK IF HE COULD PLAY CB THEN HE WOULD BE BACK AND IF NOT HE WAS GOING PRO SO THEY TOLD HIM HE COULD PLAY CB AND HE STILL ALMOST WENT PRO. HE HAS SAID THAT HIMSELF BUT I AM SURE YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT JASON ALLEN SAID THAN HE DOES. I THINK THE IMMATURE PERSON WOULD BE THE ONE "CALLING SOMEONE OUT FOR BEING IMMATURE" WHEN ALL I DID WAS POST MY OPINION WHICH IS WHAT THIS IS FOR. MY OPINION IS YOU CAN KISS MY :moon2:. :thefinger:

From what I saw in T'town he was on the sideline constantly encouraging the db's so I would say he truly is a team player and still a leader on that team. Knowing he will never be in on another play for UT he is still trying to help.
I hate that you guys lost him this year. He seems like a really good guy.

didnt he say he was coming back because he didnt reach some personal goals and he wanted to win a championship?? passing up the big bucks for a national title is nothing but glory for the orange.....yea he made a request to move back....but didnt he move to safety to help the team in the first place? and everyone wants to play their natural position....that is the worst post ever possibly.....Jason Allen earned my respect for steppin in as a freshman and playin with all he ha for 4 years....game ending pass break up against bama in the 5th OT..remember? does none of that matter to you because he asked to move back to the position he did so well in? And now that he did come back he may have lost some money by getting injured....you should be ashamed...and your opinion is pretty awful when im sure that had something to do with his decision to return....but the "T" on that helmet had a lot to do with it....

First of all what do you want him to say, I came back to improve my draft stock? No, he is gonna say what sounds good. Second, he didn't have any game ending pass break-up, he , the ball and the receiver were all out of bounds, it wouldn't have mattered if the player had caught it he wasn't in. Third, he didn't request a position change he demanded it. What do you all not understand about that? He was one of my favorite players until he pulled all of that crap. No I am not ashamed, he may have lost money by getting injured becasue he couldn't tackle. He got ran over more times than a speed bump. Ask anyone who knows what they are talking about and they will say the same thing.

Not baggin on Jason Allen, but he did make it pretty clear that IF he was to come back, he would have to play CB. I'm glad he did, but it's too bad he got hurt so bad.

ONCE AGAIN THIS IS MY OPINION!!!!! I AM ENTITLED TO MINE AND YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOURS. IT TAKES SOME REAL MATURE PEOPLE TO ATTACK SOMEONE FOR POSTING THEIR OPINION ON SOMETHING. I AM NOT CARRYING ON ABOUT HOW YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR THINKING THE WAY YOU DO OR SAYING THAT YOUR POST "COULD BE THE WORST IN HISTORY."

Well, you'll have to forgive our confusion. We cant decide whether your opinions are more sexist or irrational.

You're trying to make JA seem like a selfish player, which he's not. Was it selfish for him to switch to safety last season when his true position is CB??

Heres something else to say about Allen. if UT werent playing such brilliant defense right now, I would say JA would gladly step up and VOLUNTEER to play safety, if it were to stregthen the defense.

His true position is where Larry Slade decides he needs to go. I think he has done an outstanding job this year, but it does sound selfish.

No I never said that, but If we needed him there last year then why wouldn't we have needed him there this year? Instead he tells coaches he isn't coming back unless he can play CB so we let him and have to move an undersized true CB in Jonathan Hefney to S instead of Allen who is very capable of playing S. Sounds kinda selfiish to me.

Too bad there isn't more people like you on here who aren't afraid to open their eyes and call out one of our players for something he has done. :post-20645-1119625378:

the man just wanted to play his natural position and get his draft stock up for that...do u blame him??.....yea he got ran over....but by some good players....and he got hurt tacklin a 6'8 TE like he should...down low....and i think he could tackle....what did he lead the team when he got injured....ummm....up high in the SEC last year...dang we need to recruit people who can tackle....guy out of bounds or not he had the coverage and ended the game....all the good things he has done and u bash him for wanting to play the position he is best at.....thats pretty awful....get well soon JA

and if they woulda asked him to go to S durin this season....he woulda done it....hes a team player....and which has done better.....hefney at corner with him at safety or hefney at safety and JA at corner...?? do we need to even compare the pass defense from this season and last season??
