Tennessee is such an interesting team because of the fan base. It’s always about the vibes and the momentum or lack there of. The Vols laid an egg last night no question, but Heup and the boys have enough cash in the bank to not have us pulling out the pitchforks like I’ve seen. Keep the good vibes going even though this will be a long season.

I’ve been creeping on this board since the mid-2000s. Went to UT in the 90s during the Peyton years. It took me until 2022 to create a profile. Why? Because of the unbelievable negativity and wild attitudes that seem to pop up regardless of success. Just brings me down. There are over 65,000 members of the Volnation forum, but I’ve been seeing the same posters post for over 15 years. Probably less than 15% of the total membership posts in the football forum. Same vibes. Different year. Different team. The crazy stays the same. Regretting I spent time even joining. I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2021, and since then I never take a Vols season for granted. I understand the disappointment. I’m disappointed too, but the negativity is off the charts. Tennessee Football Saturdays are memories I cherish from childhood. I love watching my kids love the Vols and cheering from the couch, win or lose.

I’m praying you get far more seasons to enjoy it. Perspective is everything and you have far more of it than most of us.

I have been a Vol fan since the early Majors years and a regular VN Contributor since Kiff‘s one and done. For the first time ever, I am basically at a loss for words. Not carrying pitchforks or calling for heads to roll; but basically just absolutely unable to figure last night out. This year’s team is an enigma

Thanks, @bofa25 ! I’ll be in the stands at Neyland with my boys for the SC game. Plan on being there for a game next year with all three. Daughter is still too young yet to make it through a full game. Plan to be around a while yet myself. And I do believe we got the cart before the horse with the surprise awesomeness that was last year. We may have had higher expectations as fans for this season because of it. The program was a literal shambles in 2021. 2022 was the “fluke”. Albeit a good one. We turned it around just as quickly as Colorado.

PS- I plan to still be around for our next national championship! 😎

What's that saying, "An enigma wrapped in a paradox," or something like that? Even if that's not the saying, this squad is both of those. Milton is the ultimate paradox, an incredibly gifted young man who can't quite put everything together (and that's as close to criticism as I plan to say regarding him). This team is definitely an enigma, maybe they responded better to being the hunter rather than the hunted. There's still a lot of season to go, we'll see how it plays out. GBO!

These negative fans find what they’re looking for. If you go looking for bad you will find bad.

Vols are stuck for now. Heupel's new contract made him untouchable. Start replacing assistants and you probably hurt recruiting. Last time I checked, there were 19 red shirt seniors on the roster (some of whom are expected to be major contributors this season) and there's no telling how those guys will react if Joe is benched for Nico. Many of us expected a 9/10-win season. It's probably gonna be more like a 6/7-win season. There is no way out. Just hope the recruiting momentum keeps up and the young guys on campus are getting developed and don't get discouraged to the point that they hit the portal. We have an incredibly weak OOC schedule in 2024 and, hopefully, we can scratch 2-3 wins from Vandy, KY, Miss State, and Arky. If things go right, maybe Vols will be competitive in 2025. 2026, Nico will be gone and more likely than not the merry-go-round starts all over unless we luck out and find another plug-and-play QB for Heupel's system, like Hendon.

I needed to read this today. I appreciate you bringing me back into what truly matters. I hope you read this. I will continue to spread positivity in times of a nagative outcome of one football game.

Nobody has confidence in Milton, it’s a simple as that. The QBs effect the whole team. Alabubba is having the same issue which is crazy

Oh no. I'm pulling out the pitchfork on Martinez and Banks. Hadden still doesn't know how to tackle and thought he'd take down an SEC running back by bumping him. That's coaching.

Merklinger (2024 commit) is if anything more in the mold of Hendon than Nico is.
