GAME 6 – ALABAMA REVIEW
15TH OCT 2022

It is hard to know where to start when you wish to narrate on what happened on the ‘game of the season’ nationally and the ‘game of all-time’ for Tennessee. What last night’s result and performance will do is rock the status quo of the college football which has been a closed shop for some years. It will have a profound effect on recruiting at Tennessee. It might even speed up the retirement of the greatest college football coach ever, as his control of the game starts to slip.

So as to not make this post too long I have posted my Grades as well as where I review the teams performance last night at

www.aviewfrombigben.com

There are some questions that have emerged from last night’s historic win. How good is Josh Heupel and his modern version of the “fun and gun”? Where does this leave Hendon Hooker in the Heisman and NFL Draft rankings? When will Jalin Hyatt’s 5 touchdown total be beaten, (before last night in 131 years the record for a Tennessee Wide Receiver was only 3)? Where do we stand regarding not only a New Year 6 Bowl game but the National Championship playoffs? We will deal with all of those later but this article was try to sum up last night, so I thought I would boil it down by simply saying:

Bryce Young….Will Anderson….Henry To`oTo`o….Derrick Henry….Tua Tagoviloa….Joe Namath….Bart Starr….Rece Davis….Harper Lee….Terrance ‘Mount’ Cody….Gary Palmer….Bernie Madoff….Jeff Sessions….Don Hutson….Nick Saban…. Yes, you, Nick Saban….

Wasn't it funny to see Mr Saban go ballistic at his not so special teams punt return.

Benching your starters in the 3rd quarter is only for the past.

Hi BACKDOC who is Rick Bragg, and what types of literature does he write?
He mostly writes about his family and growing up dirt poor in rural N. Alabama. He has written a couple of autobiographies...........Jerry Lee Lewis, and "I'm a Soldier Too." the story of Jessica Lynch; she is the soldier that was badly injured in an accident in Iraq, and was raped. American commandoes rescued her from an Iraqi hospital.

The NIL thing has leveled the playing field for gathering football talent that was once reserved for the few that knew how to manipulate the rules and how to create extra benefits for their athletes and their families without getting caught. Jimbo Fisher and Saban exchanged barbs last year about this topic, but Saban knew Jimbo can't coach, but he had no idea that Tennessee's NIL coffers were full up and running over and Josh Huepel can coach, scheme and draw up Spurrieresque type plays in the dirt all day long. Welcome to the new and improved Rocky Top Saban, last night was a free preview of what the third Saturday in October will look like going forward.

Absolutely right TartanTurff. NIL and the Transfer Portal if used correctly can shorten a rebuild. Saban knew this thats why he moaned last year but the toothpaste is out of the tube old fellow.

Very interesting. What a horrendous story of a brave soldier.
