For over 30 years, CBS has had rights to the 3:30 SEC game of the week. Next year, the rights go to ESPN and ABC. For years, CBS has screwed the SEC with payments. The refusal of CBS to confirm the game it will broadcast also put member schools and fanbases in limbo for scheduling. All of this will be remedied with the move to ESPN/ABC. The 3:30 SEC game will now pay $20 million per game instead of the $3.5 million CBS was paying. Game times will be able to be scheduled BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON if teams want! Tennessee will no longer get screwed by CBS choosing day or night games. And the biggest bonus of all, none of us have to listen to Gary Danielson anymore! Here is a great article that goes into a deep dive of how we ended up here. Hey CBS, don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

Worth it to just get rid of Danielson.

So they are paying more to get the second or third rate Big Ten game. Genius
Sorry, I did not make it clear in the post. I have edited it to correct the vagueness. Whereas the SEC was being paid $3.5M for the 3:30 game by CBS, ABC / ESPN will now be paying the SEC $20M per 3:30 game. I honestly have no clue what CBS is paying the Big 10, but I'd bet it is no where close to $20M.

Just my opinion but Big10 overrated in my book. Let them play an SEC team and see what happens.

I'm not an ESPN fan, but in a choice between Danielson and ESPN, ESPN is still the lesser-evil.

To be fair, ESPN's college football coverage is much better than other sports. Can't stand their NBA coverage. It's the worst.

I honestly like flex scheduling . I have no problem w/ a network deciding what game they want 12 days ahead of time. A game that sucks on paper in July might be a big game in October or November. It would be a shame for it to be a Noon game when it should be a 3:30 or 7pm kick . JMO

This is true, but this deal gives the Big Ten more money and the Big Ten’s overall TV package provides more TV money to the conference versus the SEC. To be clear I’m a Tennessee fan and booster through NIL.

CBS can go to hell. Its 3:30 game WAS college football for twenty years, and its theme song WAS the best in the business, but those jackasses made a conscious choice to go with the Big 10 over the SEC. They chose to lowball the SEC and then, insult to injury, they paid MORE than the SEC wanted, just so they could broadcast crappy Yankee football. So to hell with them.

The SEC needs to try to play a 9 game conference schedule and see what happens first. I am sick of paying for cupcake games.

Agree, its not like they are changing the date, just a 7 hour window. Big games shouldn't be played at noon.

I can’t stand Big Noon on Fox. Penn State hosting Ohio State and vice versa should never be at noon. I get that it gets good ratings bc it doesn’t go against the marquee 3:30 and 7 games, but I think it’s a disservice to the fans

I understand what's your saying but three points: (1) On the lighter side it helps these smaller schools pay for their athletic programs with the big paydays for them (2) As it is now, and has in the past, the SEC teams knock each other off and, except for Al & Ga in recent years, it was hard for the SEC teams to rise to the top because one SEC team beating another just counts as a loss and it was hard to climb to the top rankings (3) When the Big10 plays cupcakes & other teams play cupcakes they still count those wins as if they were superior wins.

Yeah watch what happens when we (SEC) play all conference wins. It's hard enough now to go through the season with only two losses. It's a Merry-go-round in the SEC: Florida beats TN, Ky beats Florida, TN beats KY. The talking heads & pollsters aren't going to give us the same credit for beating each other up as they will the other conferences who beat up cupcakes. Year in & year out the addition of TX & OK will make it even harder in the SEC.

Probably the only thing that will help is them expanding the playoff teams which should give us at least two/three a year.

I want to hear Gary Danielson make Iowa vs Northwestern sound exciting, lol.
He won't be calling that game, just like he never calls the Vandy/Miss St game. Ohio St and Michigan will probably be involved in 80% of the games CBS airs. Over the years, the Big Ten doesn't have the depth of dominant teams that the SEC has.

I wonder how the BIG 10 audience is going to adjust to Gary Danielson crowing about Alabama every week?

Agree…I can’t name a dozen Big10 games I would want to watch and all would involve one of the two schools you name. SEC can deliver an interesting game almost every week.
