I can't remember the last ime I was this impressed with UT. Seriously, this is the most complete game I can remember off the top of my head. I knew we had it in us, but I wasn't sure if I'd see it or not.
Ainge's best game ever, Meachum finally plays to his ability, awesome running game, O-line was excellent in run and pass situations, the question mark that was our defense looks like a serious strength, no big returns on our part but great kicks and coverage in the kicking game.
Some people might want to refer to CAl as over-rated, which I think that might be to an extent, but their not that over-rated. We just dominated a very good team that alot of people think will win the Pac-10.
I'm at a loss of words other that to say congrats to the players and coaches. It's great to be a Tennessee Vol!!!

It was definitely a shock to see so many big plays in one game. We had more big plays in this game than we did all of last season.

The crowd was GREAT tonight!!

The talent was always there, and the fans were just great tonight. This game sent a message to certain people who thought UT was down for good. I am glad we got a better start than last season

agreed. i'm 19 years old, and i've watched tennessee football ever since i have been able to look at the TV screen and understand what was happening. this was one of the most complete football games that i have ever seen played by any team, anywhere.

ainge looked confident in his abilities and very composed. he didn't try to be a hero or get anxious in the pocket. he looked very relaxed. he only threw one bad pass all night; the interception. foster and hardesty absolutely took it to the california defense. hardesty's 41 yard TD run was absolutely outstanding; one of the best i've seen from any tennessee running back. our underachieving wide receivers looked on their game. i can think of only one dropped pass; early in the game by chris brown (i think). they broke tackles and sprung those quick outs for big gains. meachem was amazing and swain was on his game.

the defense was right there as well. karl and the rest of the linebacking corps was like a swarm of bees all night on lynch, who looked uninterested all night. wade made several good plays in the secondary and inky laid the wood to a couple of people. we didn't make any special teams mistakes at all. colquitt boomed a few punts.

really, the only really poor plays were yancey's fumble and the failed 3rd and 1 run up the middle. i'd say ball security with the young guys still needs a bit of work. i would have liked to see crompton convert that 4th and 1 but it was late in the game and it didn't even matter.

i absolutely love putting teams (and entire conferences) back in their place! i really thought early on cal looked rattled and intimidated in our house. i wasn't impressed with lynch at all. when he got decked on 3rd down on their first drive he was laughing as the offense came off the field. it was like he didn't even care. having the heisman handed to you already by your school does that to you, i guess.

I thought our linebackers looked great tonight. I was especially pleased with Mayo and Karl.
