Both teams come off looking good.

Andrew Miller, however, might be better than Dontrelle.

I agree. I think Miller will be better in the long run.

This could set the Tigers up for a huge run this year though. Bonderman, Verlander, and Willis is a damn good top 3. Cabrera could now DH too. I like this deal for both teams.

Personal trivia - Maybin and my youngest work out together in the offseason, good kid to say the least. (Cameron that is- my son is a pain in the a@@ - just kidding.)

Big Tigers fan here so I have mixed feelings. I don't quite trust Willis in the American League and I also worry about Cabrera a little in Comerica. One of the throw in pitchers was a guy I liked, Dallas Trahern I think he could be good one day.

I meant right now. The long run, there is no doubt Miller is better.

Either way, the Tigres might scare me more than the Red Sox now.

Willis is on a decline. As for Cabrera in Comerica, Marlins stadium isn't a hitters park either...I think he'll be a great pickup for you guys.

I thought that too but I was watching ESPN today and I can't remember if it was Steve Phillips or Peter Gammons made a great point about the D-Train and has shifted my thinking on this.

In Florida he was the ace on a team that was #13 in the Majors in runs scored of course that is somewhat skewed due to the DH. In the NL they ranked 6th in that catagory while all but Washington in the NL East was above them.

Now he's going to a team where he will not be the ace (facing other teams lower tier starting pitchers) and he also goes to a Division that had 3 teams that placed 12, 13, 14 in runs scored in the American League. The American League only has 14 teams. The other team is Cleveland which is just in the top 50% at #6 in runs scored in the American League.

Now take all that and given the fact that the Tigers were #3 in the Major's in runs scored and now they are adding Cabrera to an already deadly lineup.

Things aren't looking so bad for the D-Train this year. The Tigers are stocked up and I hope they rip through the American League because I can't stand the evil empires of Boston and New York.

Yeah but any time a pitcher goes to the american league from the national league I don't get my hopes up.

Well, if anything even decent lefty pitchers are coming at a huge premium in the majors these days. I think once D-train gets settled into the American League he'll probably start producing again. The Marlins simply appear to be ditching their heaviest contracts, probably in preparation to finally get out of Miami.

This isn't a new thing for them.

i'm not as worried about blanton. Blanton isn't consistent enough to be anything more than a third man. Haren has become a legit ace and we didn't get nearly what I think we could have. i would have rather made a trade with your reds and hopefully have gotten at least votto and others.
