Gave up an 8 point lead with just seven min. or so to go in our own house to a crappy Sunbelt conference school.

That was just sickening to watch. We don't have a single player who can shoot the ball from outside worth a crap.

Whatever it takes, Martin needs to go out and find some guys who can shoot the freakin' ball. We haven't had anybody who could shoot since Lofton.

McBee - brick after brick after brick
McRae - brick after brick after brick
Tatum - brick after brick after brick
Golden - brick after brick after brick
Richardson - brick after brick after brick

I felt like I was watching a meeting of the United Bricklayers Local #399 tonight.

When UT started slowing the ball down, I knew we was in trouble. Everyone quit hustling except MTSU. Have to get the ball to Maymon and Stokes to win. There is always next year.

You had to know the season would end like this .. Too many games this year just like this one .. That is why we were in the NIT in the first place .. GO VOLS !!!!!

Unless we add a player or two who can consistently shoot the freakin' ball from 3 pt range, next year will be a sad carbon copy of this year. NIT mediocrity.

Yeah, it's crazy to think about the improvements Golden, McRae, Maymon, Stokes, and Yemi made throughout the year, and think they will get better during the offseason.

Their defense improved, sure, but their shooting was still the same crappy stuff we've been watching since we had Lofton. Their offensive game did not improve at all.

Without some offensive playmakers, we will continue to be a mediocre team at best.

Laid a big Easter egg on TBA's floor tonight.

Personally I am glad to see this season end. They wore me out. They were their own version of Mississippi State minus Sidney. Hope Coach Zo cleans the roster, recruits more of what he wants, and finishes developing the good ones so that next season they play hard for 40 minutes, yet are still able to make lay-ups and FT's.

I'd say Golden, Maymon and McBee's offensive games improved dramatically. I think Stokes' offensive/defensive game will improve dramatically next year with an offseason of conditioning and getting to work out with the team at the beginning of the season.

The only player that I would say didn't improve greatly was Tatum and that may be more his injured knees than anything. He played pretty good D, but had too many turnovers and was too inconsistent for a Sr.

Every other player got better as the season went on. I don't know how you could even remotely say otherwise.

It is surprising and disappointing that CM if you listen to his interview just isn't seeing the same things most of us are. I wish he would show some kind of emotion regardless of his one stare moment.

please don't ever try and pretend you know more about basketball than Coach Martin. Even by your standards it's ridiculous

Good shooters don't seem to come to UT anymore. Pearl's last few teams very often shot poorly. Even McBee who is probably their best 3 point shooter is not overall that good. This is why we lose to teams like Austin Peay and MTSU. Poor shooting and no desire for 40 minutes. That's why we are at best an NIT also ran.......

Interesting observation. Did Pearl recruit a pure shooter? I can't recall.

I'm excited about our front line next year. Could be one of the best in the SEC. The future is bright, no question about it.

The Vols were out played and out desired. Also had no answer for the dribble drive.

^ This. CM will use it as motivation this offseason. Tournament basketball is about match ups and given the circumstances (UT = poor shooting, Maymon nursing injury) this one didn't bode well. Just think how Duke and Missouri are feeling right about now.

The worrisome part is that post stokes, we had one of the Better front lines THIS year, but we rarely took advantage.

Perfect example was last night. Maymon, Stokes and Yemi were a combined 13-22(59%), and 11-17(65%)from the line.

The rest of the team was a combined 9-36(25%), and 8-13(62%) from the line.

It doesn't take a genius to see that good things happened EVERY single outposts posts got a good touch down low. At worst, our guards should pound it down low and work inside out. If I was/am CCM I tell guys unless it's a fast break you had better not shoot until either maymon or stokes gets a touch down low.

This is one of the areas that I don't like about CCM playing style. He gives the players free reigns on offense as long as they play hard on defense. You got to give direction at both ends of the court.
