AC/DC Fires Brian Johnson Hires Axl

He wasn't going to be able to keep doing concerts for hearing loss. His doctor basically told him one more show could make him deaf. Racing cars was actually the cause for the majority of the damage rather than doing concerts.

Sounds less like a firing and more the band looking out for him. Axl Rose tho?

Darn. Saw acdc when they were on their back Ice tour, was hoping to see them again soon. Rose isn't the same.

Had tickets to see them in Greensboro on March 14. They cancelled 10 days prior. : ( My wife has seen them with Bon and twice with Brian. Me? I have yet to see them live.

Read the other day that Brian's Doc ok'd him for open air events, but, no more indoor events.

Axl can pull off the vocals, imo, but, will he show up? That's the question.

I had tickets for there also. We got a refund, but I might consider purchasing again once the date is announced. I've seen them twice with Brian on lead. It won't be the same, but Brian and Bon don't have exactly the same voice either so this could work. I'm hoping that the band decided on Axl because of his voice and how it meshes with the music and not because he might draw more fans than some no- name that might actually sound better.

Yup, I'm considering repurchasing once they announce the new date. The 2 tickets I had refunded were $326. They were front left of the runway, row 11 1st level. Would have been some good seats, imo.

If I'm reading it right, Rose isn't a permanent replacement, just for the rest of the tour. It does sound like Johnson is out for good but honestly the group should hang it up after this tour.

Johnson wasn't fired...he was going deaf.

Rose is a fill in as his concert doesn't start until after acdc ends theirs.

He is not permanent.

Angus joined GnR on stage at Coachella last night and they played Whole Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff. Axl definitely sounds like Axl, and more like Bon than Brian. I'm intrigued.

Thanks, Db.

Imo, Bon's style/voice was a little more "lazy" and "nasal" than Axl's. Axl's voice/style is a lot higher and quicker. Not downing Axl, just trying to get it in my head, him as lead singer of AC/DC - my all time favorite band and a part of my bucket list.

I was hoping they would give a singer from one of the trillion AC/DC covers, too, at least, finish this tour. A cover singer will already know all the instructions and outs of the AC/DC brand.

So, is Axl, as AC/DC front man, worth dropping 3 bills on too go see?

I'd do it if it is indeed a bucket list checkoff..I always wanted to see Pink Floyd and The Cure live and I'm afraid that's not going to happen now
